  • Sniper/Sniper Squad Set up, Tactics, PR guide.

Yes, we all love it. A chance to blow off some guys head; It's a great life as a sniper in PR. Or just being the spotter watching the carnage. However, to be tip top it requires consistency, procedure, effort, experience and a lot more perhaps.

Firstly, I'll begin with some definitions of the terms I may or may not use:
*M-SNIPE (Mobile-Sniper Squad; a sniper squad constantly on the move, at least every 5 minutes, has access to buildings)
*S-SNIPE (Stationary-Sniper Squad; a sniper squad which stays in one position for a long time, at least 15 minutes at usual)
*C-SNIPE (Close-in Sniper Squad; a sniper squad that operates most of the time within 350m of it's target)
*U-SNIPE (Urban Sniper Squad; a sniper squad that operates within a city/town)
*L-SNIPE (Long-range Sniper Squad; a sniper squad that operates most of the time at least 500m away from it's target)
*MP-SNIPE (Multi-Purpose/Role Sniper Squad; a sniper squad that switches between multiple roles. I.E. any of the roles of the above this squad can perform)
*RE (Recon; Observing the enemy. Component of most sniper squads. Provides intelligence on enemy to CO/SLs of other squads)

    SQUAD SET-UPS:
    *M-SNIPE: 2x Sniper. 1x Riflemen Specialist.
SL/Senior member: 1x Sniper, specialising mainly as spotter for the operation. This sniper acts as the primary spotter for the second sniper. He is to locate targets, prioritise them, provide a range to target and whether bullet drop has to be taken into account as well as providing recommendations for shooting. He also organises where the squad sets up with advice from the Riflemen Specialist.
2nd Class Senior member: 1x Sniper, specialising as the main shooter for the operation. This sniper is the person who will be shooting the targets the first sniper points out to him. His job is simple; shoot to kill. However, this person requires previous experience with sniping.
Junior member: 1x Riflemen Specialist, specialising as the guard and the terrain/structure specialist for the operation. Primarily, the RS is meant to allow access to buildings and other structures using his grapple hook. He also is to advise the SL senior member on re-locations/how to get to the new destination etc. He secondly provides guard while the snipers are at work to ensure that no one attempts to sneak up and kill the snipers while they are performing their duties. He can also act as a secondary spotter, but only at request of the SL/senior member.

    *S-SNIPE: 2x Sniper. 1x Medic or 1x Riflemen Specialist.
SL/senior member: 1x Sniper. Same as last, this sniper acts as a spotter. He locates and prioritises targets, provides ranging, whether or not for bullet drop compensation and recommendations for shooting.
2nd Class Senior Member: 1x Sniper. Acts as shooter for the op. This spot requires previous experience with a sniper rifle.
Junior Member: 1x Medic or 1x Riflemen Specialist. The medic serves as a healer and guard for the snipers. It is recommended (unless doing fairly long range) that a medic is in the squad as by remaining stationary for longer periods of time you attract more attention from the enemy and they can start shooting at you/possibly hit you. If you are planning to go on structures, use the RS instead of a medic. But it's not advisable too much.

    *C-SNIPE: 1x Sniper. 1x Officer. 1x medic or 1x RS
SL/Senior member: 1x Officer. This soldier acts as the primary spotter and designates the area where the op will take place. He performs the same spotter tasks as listed above. He can also shoot any targets that get close with his, preferably, scoped rifle and provide basic first aid via field dressings.
2nd Class Senior Member: 1x Sniper. Acts as primary shooter for the op. Takes directions from the officer against targets.
Junior Member: 1x Medic or 1x RS. Preferably a medic, as normal enemy infantry will easily be in range of you, and can thus easily hit the squad. RS is only if you are going to be accessing multiple structures throughout the mission only.

    *L-SNIPE: 2x Sniper, 1x Officer
SL/Senior member: 1x Officer. He acts as a primary spotter and designates where the op takes place. He performs the same spotter tasks listed in the first few squad set-ups. He also scans the nearby area to make sure the squad isn't going to get jumped by enemies who have sneaked in near their location.
2nd Class member: 1x Sniper. This is the more experienced sniper of the group. He is the primary shooter. He conducts most of the bullet-drop shots and can give recommendations to the less experienced sniper and also to the Officer. If the officer is scanning the area, he can take over the role of prioritising targets and selecting how to neutralise etc.
Junior member: 1x Sniper. This is the less experienced sniper of the group. He is the secondary shooter. He conducts the more close range shots (under 600m) and takes advice from the 2nd Class member sniper. When the Officer goes to scan the nearby perimeter for threats, he takes orders from the 2nd Class member sniper.

The rest of the set-ups are pretty self-explanatory.

    Tactics; Choosing the right spot:
Most of the time, you want somewhere which allows you to survey a large area. This usually means a hill/mountain or a tall building/structure. You also want to choose a spot that you can extract from quickly via foot in case your position becomes heavily engaged. You should also choose places that might be less conspicuous. For example, a Hotel building is one of the more suspectable building for a sniper operation. Where as a normal 3 or 4 story building is not.

Tactics; Choosing the right squad set-up:
You usually should choose this dependant on the type of map, its view distance and vantage point height/how many there are. And also what you feel comfortable/best with.

I'm bored because I'm a bit sick, can't play. So I think I might as well write some things that might give people some insight into a specific topic. I myself will use this in the future. I encourage you to think of your own tactics or set-ups.
