  • A question about your settings

Trying to find out what some popular server settings are (for my server).

1 - at how many TK's do you punish TK?
2 - at what quality level do you have the VOIP set? (it's from 1 to 5)
3 - time limit? what do you guys think is too 'short'? what's too long? what do you think people like?

That's all right now.. I may have more questions as I continue to tweak our settings.

    I can do two answers:
#1: I THINK it's three TKs within 5 minutes. THINK (as in "am not entirely certain").
#3: Somewhere in the neighborhood of 45-60 minutes seems to be the sweet spot. Long enough to have an epic game, but not so much time that it can't get tense at the end.

You think 'untimed' is not a good idea?
Also, if it's a smaller server (32 people) you think 45-60 is probably still about right?

And re. TK's. On BF2CC (what I am using to adjust settings) it just asks for how many TK's.. there is no time range for those TK's. Am I missing an option somewhere?

        Thanks!

          Regarding time:
I think that the real balance to be struck is that sweet spot when the tickets are 10-5 and the map time is under two minutes. That's the point where the suspense kicks in, and really, every game is about suspense and not knowing what exactly is going to happen next... and that's what makes it fun. :)

          Regarding TKs:
The number is adjustable via BF2CC, but to trick out the time you'd need to dig into the Python code.

            VoIP is set to 3.

            3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.
