  • Demo vs Game play

I wanted to see if my computer could handle BF2 so I downloaded the demo. It's not laggy on single player with medium settings. The only problem I see is with the lighting effects; shadows are huge, and there are strange flashes on random parts of the map. Do you think my comp be able to handle the retail version online play?

I'm aware of the game's requirements, but my processor is my main concern. I have a Pentium M 1.60 GHz

    Try updating your video driver.

I went to my control panel>display and tried to update my video driver through Windows XP. It said it was the best version it could locate. Should I go somewhere else to update my driver? I have a ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo.

You want to download drivers from ATI (http://www.ati.com). I don't have an ATI card this gen so haven't kept up with what version you want (sometimes the newest ones are actually worse for certain games) but thats where you'll find them.

It sounds like you have a laptop. I have a Mobility 9600 64MB and it's fine. It takes a while to load the maps but the actual performance is acceptable for 64 player maps.

Yes I have a laptop. I installed the retail version, but theres this weird lighting bug on every map. The ground/surfaces seem to blink everywhere constantly. I can't find out how to update my specific driver on http://www.ati.com. Any suggestions?

I downloaded and installed Omega 5.7, but now the entire screen goes black in different areas as I walk around...I'm so confused.
