  • Bf2 not working

No error messages, heres what happens.

Multiplayer: I can join the server and play for a maximum of 30 seconds, when it disconnects with the message "The connection to the server has been lost." Please note that this happens on ALL servers, I even tried one that didn't have Punkbuster enabled(hard to find)

Singleplayer: When I click Join Game, I CTD.

Can someone tell me what BF2_r.exe is/does? When I try to run it(it usually works normal) this happens:

    Error #1
    Error #2

Mabey try deleting your shaders folder. I'm guessing the optimizing shaders setting somehow got corrupted.

Well, this is a stubborn guy. I have nothing else in me, I'll think about it overnight. Any other tech guru's want to give it a shot?

I'd upgrade your drivers anyhow, see if maybe that's the problem... this one's a toughy.

DId you also delete the BF2 profiles under your My Documents folder? Have you tried running with no sound/low graphics to see if sound/video card might be an issue? Are you running TS while you play? What about any background applications? Can you think of any programs you installed 2 weeks ago when this problem started to arise?

Wow, I was just able to play for 40 seconds!!!!!

Hey Elmerfudd, Are you running Daemon Tools by any chance? I had he same problem as soon as I would join the server I would CTD so I tried running off the CD and it worked. Maybe the new patch messed up Daemon tools. Just an F.Y.I Hope it helps goodluck

I'm not seeing it. How does the traceroute show that the router is the issue?

What firmware are you running in the router? I seem to recall some older firmware having issues, so flashing newer stuff may be sufficient, without exposing a Windows box to the outside world.

The problems fixed, I had to open some ports on my router to get it to work. Kind of odd that BF2 would suddenly start having hissy fits about not having ports open.
