  • New Creative X-Fi Beta drivers...fixes for BF2

I'm sure there's someone else here who owns an X-Fi. Here's the link.

    http://us.creative.com/support/downl...pe=1&details=1

    Here's the fixes for BF2

    For Battlefield 2

    * Allows the Ultra-High Audio setting in a multi-player game

    For Battlefield 2 (version 1.12)

    * Allows you to hear audio from speakers when the X-Fi audio driver option is selected

Huh? What does it mean about the Ultra-high audio setting? I've always had that selected. Are they saying it wasn't really an option before now? Can anyone else clarify this?

i dunno its always been at ultra high for me. Although I didn't notice any diff from high to ultra high so it might have not been actually working

There have been some threads of members saying that it only went up to HIGH for them.

I always have had ULTRA HIGH ....

I have an creative x-fi fatality sound card. It made a big difference in sound quality, depth perception of sounds, and other things. I get the ultra high option without that beta driver. So I will try it out see if theres any thing different. I love this sound card. With its on board RAM and its design with bf2 i always get 80+ FPS. Theres a big difference between low end or on board sound to this card. I took notice when all speech said by present buttons sounded clear and not all static. For those sound junkies I recommend this card. Awsome for music and movies too.

Did the beta drivers make any difference?

I have xfi fatlatiy also, my settings were on ultra high from the begining. Would be interesting if these drivers make any difference.

Does any one suffer from distortion while loading map in BF2, i do sometimes, but could be to do with running on board soundcard as well

why would you run onboard if you got an x-fi? Im sure there might be some compadibility issues that might arise. I got an xtreme music x-fi and changed it to ultra as soon as i got it...i definately heard a difference. Empty a clip standing outside a hanger, then do it while underneath. Sounds WAY better. Im also interested in what this new drivers will do if anything.

disable onboard sound if you have a pci soundcard, do it from the BIOS

I have never had an issue with having both on-board and a PCI sound card enabled. It's useful because when I want to record audio from BattleRecorder, I have to use the on-board sound, because the "What-U-Hear" on the Creative comes out at crap quality for some reason.
