    Squad Closed Alpha v2 has been announced with a full changelog and is set to be released by this Friday, 30th October at 6AM UTC / Thursday 29th October at 11PM PST.

    I can't share the link so just take my word for it and read about it on the Squad forums. :)

      I promise not to virtually shoot the kind forum moderator that grants me the ability to post links. :)

      So what is everyone looking forward to? I personally like that they added some squad management tools. Although, it seems like the lock ability wasn't added. :/

      And this - "Added support for special events". Does that mean we'll start seeing some community servers? Hmm?

        I haven't had too much time to play v1 but new game modes are nice to mix things up.

          OK, I haven't had a chance to play the new patch but apparently everyone has "pumpkin heads" for Halloween (temporary thing).

          I need to hop on before they go away. Hilarious watching them pop...

            V2 is a nice upgrade. Sounds are much better. Graphics are smoother. Medic system is improved. HUD is nice. Map is nice.

            I like it. Now if I only had more than 15 minutes to play....

              Hmm. You might in the minority on this one. I've heard a lot of people complain that performance is worse in Alpha v2 than it was in Alpha v1. Personally, I've noticed it too. I don't maintain 60 fps anymore on full 50p servers like I used to. It's weird because I've noticed frames dipping when a lot if weapon sounds are going off. It's like the server is having trouble with all that information just like in the last build with the higher player count servers (>50).

                Would the Founder level pre-purchase get me into the alpha?

                I've wanted this game for so long, to help it get up and going would be a pleasure.:row__591:

                  Getting the Squad leader package would grant you access however as far as I know rifleman has not come out yet.

                    I hope that's not true but I have to say I'm not very impressed with the graphics. Unless I'm missing something I can't seem to get the fuzziness out of the long distance views. Tried using Nvidia control panel instead of the game graphics but no luck. If they don't improve that's a game changer for me.

                      Pale Horseman, in order to play the alpha right now, you would need to buy the $70 USD Squad Leader tier. The key generation is nearly instant now. After PayPal clears the transaction, you should get an email from Ofworld Industries with your key. I had a guy buy it while watching me stream yesterday and he had it and downloaded it and was playing with me within an hour. It was very cool. :

                      The $30 USD Rifleman tier gets you access in late December when the game goes to Steam Early Access. The game will retail for $35 on Steam so you're saving $5 if you choose to buy the Rifleman tier now.

                      Plenty of people share the same opinion. Even with anti aliasing on extreme, distant tress and objects can appear fuzzy. I believe it's due to the type of AA Unreal Engine 4 uses which is FXAA. Some people have had luck by forcing MSAA in Nvidia control panel or AMD control center. The Squad devs are aware and they have let the UE4 devs know.

                          Haha yep. If you don't follow the forums, Reddit, or the Squad devs on social media, then some information can be lost. Even something as big as a new version. Some have suggested having a banner on the main forum page with the current update link, but even then I think people would miss it. Once the game is on Steam, the updates will be much more fluid and probably mandatory to launch the game from Steam.

                            Nice video! So wait...have OWI already released an SDK for Squad? Would be nice to see some community maps early after release of the game on Steam.

                            Also for anyone watching this thread: I also had the fuzzy/hazy game up until this 2.1 patch. I'm not saying this patch fixed everything, but when I first launched the game after updating it was in Windowed mode and everything looked crisp. I switched to full screen and again it was like playing in a sandstorm. I messed around with screen size, resolution, etc. and it now looks much better than previously. I'd say it's time to revisit the game for anyone that's stayed away because of this.

                            EDIT: I really didn't have time to play after patching. I hopped on an empty server and walked around and everything seemed clear and well defined. I did grab an officer kit and used the binoculars to look across the map and buildings far away weren't fully drawn but I'm fine with that at this point in development.
