Sunday night, when Dipso had Mr. Soup and I run ambushes with the HAT and a Techie on Gorodok. That round made for some of the most memorable mad max style moments I've yet to have in Squad.

We intercepted and destroyed 3 US Logis in the US backfield using a fairly simple technique. We would hide the Techie behind some cover so that any vehicle approaching down the road would be unable to see us. Soup stayed on the HMG while I would setup only a few feet away in a position to identify whatever vehicle was coming down the road.

We decided that if a Humvee or Stryker came down the road, I would engage the threat with the HAT. However, if it was a Logi coming down the road, instead of using the HAT round, I would run back to the Techie, turn on the engine and wait for the Logi to go past us. Once it drove past us we would chase after the Logi with the Techie and destroy it solely using the HMG.

Nothing was more beautiful than chasing after a panicked Logi driver, swerving left and right frantically uselessly, caught in our snare. We finally met our end on the 4th Logi ambush who happened to be escorted by a Crows Humvee but it was alright because we rode to Valhalla and died historic on the Gorodok road.

I believe I was one of those Logi trucks.

        Evening Gents.

Last night 5/8/17 at around 10PM EST a round was played on Kokan Valley AASv1 U.S vs. Insurgents. Myself, Hudson, and MrSoup were on U.S and a majority of the |TG| guys were Op-For (I think Gaunt, Dispo, Wah, 'Crew, and a few others were on Insurgents). We had a slow start to Village, met resistance at Tempest, and took about 35 minutes to push on Market. It was a slow round for me - mostly recon work providing Hudson troop movements, and little trigger time. A nice calm way to ease into the evening.

About 45 minutes in the U.S had captured both Market & Ruins. Hudsons Squad was advancing towards Stonebend when Team Chat revealed enemies were advancing towards Ruins from the South and West to back cap. I volunteered to investigate. Shortly after our FOB West of Ruins went down, the following four minutes were the most intense moments I've ever had in Squad. A throwback to the early 2000's years of CounterStrike when you were the last man left, being hunted and hunting at the same time.

The eastern two-story building is where I made my last stand. I was alone on Ruins for about two and a half minutes defending it while Hudson's Squad was able to neutralize and cap Stonebend, and Asta85 Squad pushed up from the South to reinforce. Best guess is there were around 12 Insurgents, although I'm pretty sure at least two were revives, so perhaps a full squad and stragglers.

Having fired rounds during previous engagements, ammo management was a real concern. I had at least four rifle downs, four pistol downs, and might have got lucky with both my(and an enemies) grenade before I was dropped.

I am working on reviewing the footage (day job problems), and will analyze it further for TTPs. I believe a did a few things really well, did OK on others, and ended downright dumb when my Tactical and SA meter clearly hit Empty! But there are always teachable moments and room for improvement which I hope to evaluate when I have time to look at last nights recordings. In the meantime, I would be very interested to hear your perspective if any of you assaulted Ruins from the South and West last night during that round?

If the footage is solid I will share it. Below

        Link Here:

This was my first attempt at doing commentary, but it came out alright. Their are additional points I would add or discuss throughout the video if I was typing. Let me know if there is interest.

Admittedly I may be on a quest to prove the value of the Marksmen kit due to the hate it receives, but if there is value I'll write up something more in depth and update this post.

As I said in my opening Intro post about a month ago thanks for managing a great server, and thank you for your efforts in providing a chance to gather with like minded individuals.

I too have gone on this quest and the results are best summed up as follows. The Marksman kit is fantastic on maps with significant elevation changes. Fools Road or Sumari for example present fantastic opportunities for Marksman's kit rifle to be extremely lethal at mid range. Al Barah despite being technically flat, also is a Marksman's dream come true with the plentiful amount of accessible high rise buildings.

I've had massively reduced success on maps like Kokan or Sumari which are of course, extremely flat with the tallest buildings being only 2 stories and difficult or impossible to get on top of.

The Marksman whether using the M110 or SVD has the meanest gun in the game for mid-engagements. The high damage and good accuracy mean that most targets die within 2 shots. If you engage infantry in the envelope where their rifles and optics begin to lose effectiveness, you can be practically immune from retaliation in a prolonged firefight. I also believe that the Marksman is not a scout kit. Any rifleman optic kit or even a regular rifleman occasionally zooming can be a successful lookout.

At the end of the day, to be good with the marksman, you have to be good at shooting. If you cannot regularly pull of head shots at mid-range, if you cannot quickly incapacitate a moving target, if you are constantly expending multiple rounds on one target than the marksman is just not the proper weapon for you.

I hate to use K/D ratio as a measure for anything in Squad. We all know rounds in Squad are defined by so much more than just a simple K/D count. But in the case the of the Marksman kit, if you aren't racking up the kills in a healthy way, I've got to figure another kit may be of better use. If you think I'm wrong on this perception of the kit though, lets start a new thread and discuss all the delicious theory and practice.

Spent a great round defending Village on Yehorivka. We had a BTR in the squad for the first half of the round and were able to successfully repel several coordinated attacks against our position with mostly just our squad as the only defending troops. We eventually lost the BTR and Village, so we moved to defend SE Petrivka. We managed to assault that point, eliminate an enemy radio/HAB and re-take the flag. Throughout the round the squad had excellent coms discipline, clear and concise call-outs for targets and effective use of fire and maneuver. Even though our team lost, I felt our squad excelled at the tasks that I assigned to us. Nice round, gentlemen!

In the fight of our lives with Luke SL'n for a good back and forth over Hilltop on Fools Road. Had this one particularly verbose squad member clogging up comms and being generally a tool to the other squaddies. Some of the other squad guys snarl at him for being a disrespectful wanker to which he responds with rancor and vitriol. One of our fine TG community members, quite level headedly and courteously may I add, tells the young man to essentially cool it and play the game.

The reply and the singular reason for this post was this...

"Yeah, well you sounds like a 37 year old DVD salesman who lives in his mothers basement."

Now, I am a bit of a connoisseur of insults and was quite impressed with this young mans originality. I have never, ever, heard anything that comes remotely to this level of forethought, rehearsal and aplomb. I am a bit baffled, yet still impressed however, over the odd specificity of the insult. Regardless, I applaud you sir. *Slow Clap*

So from here on out, when ever you interact with our very own Copernicus, just think of him as a 37 year old DVD salesman who lives in his mothers basement.

                  Just had to share.

I'd like everyone to refer to me as DVD-37 from now on. I will be making sales pitches to all of you nightly and will strive to generate adequate leads and supplement my modest income with all the commission I will be making off the surely vibrant DVD business.

For all the DVD insults Gman could summon, he could not save himself from the inglorious fate of being kicked from the squad and then shortly, from the server itself.

C0pernicus , I mean @DVD-37 - Might I suggest you look into LaserDisc? This format has a niche market but I believe it will be making a comeback. If you have room for additional storage in your mom's basement, you should consider adding LaserDisc to branch out and increase your market share!
