  • [ANNOUNCEMENT] Return of Password Nights

    Password Nights

    What are Password Nights?

One of the hallmarks of the TacticalGamer Project Reality server was our Password Night events. Twice a week we would lock down our server with a password that was selectively handed out to players that we knew would bring nothing but quality teamwork and a great gaming experience, and that was exactly what we experienced. Incredible rounds of high teamwork and coordination, making for some of the best online gaming experiences most players had experienced and have yet to experience again. These events saw us run special game modes, Commander Pick 'Ems events (think school yard pick 'em games), scenario events and on and on.

How are you going to run Password Nights now?

Locking the server with a password is too high of a barrier to getting the Squad server full. This is a different community now than the PR community was "back in the day". As such, we have a better solution to ensure that only high caliber team players populate the TG server during these events...

That's right, we're going to Whitelist the server during Password Nights. Only players that have been approved to play beforehand can join the server during a Password Night. If this is something you'd be interested participating in, this is how you can get Whitelisted:
    • Join our Discord server
    • Apply to be Whitelisted
      • First, get your Steam64Id
        • Open your Steam client, go to the menu Steam > Settings > Interface
        • Check the box that says "Display Steam URL address bar when available"
        • Go to your Steam Profile page available on the drop-down menu from your profile name
        • Copy the entire URL displayed in the address bar for your Steam profile
        • Go to this URL: https://steamid.io/lookup
        • Paste your Steam profile URL you copied from your profile page into the Lookup field and click "Lookup"
        • From the results, copy your Steam64ID. This will be a number that starts with 765.....
      • Next, register on Discord using TacticalBot
        • Send a PM to TacticalBot using the command "!whitelistme yoursteam64id"
      • You will receive a PM in return from TacticalBot confirming your application. If your Steam64Id is not valid you will receive a message indicating that as well.
    • That's it!

The Squad admin team will receive a notice about the application and then approve the application. In the case that you are denied an application, you will be notified and given the reason why and, more importantly, what you need to do to get approved. Whitelist access is a privilege, not a right.

Attaining Whitelist access will allow you to join the server during password nights. TG Supporting Members will receive automatic Whitelist access to the server for Password Night events and they will have priority over non-Supporting Members during these events to be able to join the server. In cases where the server is full and a Supporting Member wants to join, the admin staff will remove the longest playing non-SM from the server to make room. The player removed is free to rejoin the queue to join the server again once a slot opens up. If you do not want to be kicked, consider supporting the server financially through a Supporting Membership.

    Expectations

As I just mentioned above, Whitelist access is a privilege, not a right. Players are added to the Whitelist that we feel will bring the type of game play we're looking for and support at Tactical Gamer. It is our intention to fill the server during Password Nights with 80 high caliber players that play Squad the "TG way". Therefore, the admin staff will be enforcing the rules on the server (both gameplay and Primer) very harshly during these events. There will be a zero-tolerance policy, and violations will result in a suspension of Whitelist privileges at a minimum, up to potentially being banned from the server for offenses. If you intend on playing during Password Events, it is your duty to know, understand and follow the rules and guidelines explained or linked in the Server Information and Rules post.

Please make sure you join the Squad Lobby voip channel on Discord for Password Night.

    When will Password Nights start?

We are planning on running our first Password Night on Friday, February 2nd at 7pm Central. Further dates will be posted in this thread and announcements will be made via Discord, on the server and via our Steam group, but we are planning on making this a weekly event for Friday nights.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our admin staff on Discord in the #need_a_squad_admin channel, post in our Contact An Admin forum here (requires an account to do so) or speak to an admin in-game (not the preferred method).
