  • [EVENT] Operation Valentine - TG Internal Scrim

    What: Operation Valentine
When: Sunday, February 10, 2pm US Central (3pm US Eastern, Noon US Pacific, 1900 UTC or 7pm UTC)
Where: The beautiful rolling hills of Yehorivka (we'll be playing the AAS v5 layer)

On Sunday, February 10th, TG will be hosting our second internal scrimmage for Squad. This scrimmage will again feature 2 players as Commanders and teams full of skilled, teamwork-orientated players struggling for dominance in the gentle rolling hills of Yehorivka.

    What is an internal scrim?

An internal scrim is an organized match that has both teams comprised entirely of tg members. Tacticalgamer has run many internal scrims before in titles such as bf2, bf2142, point of existence, project reality, arma as well as other titles that we've had or currently do have active membership playing. We haven't run one for squad.....yet, but the time is upon to give it a go.

    How can i play?

Our last scrimmage was full at 78 players and we still had players in reserve. If you want to be assured of a place, register!

If you're not sure you can play then we strongly advise registering anyway. It is easier to get registered and then to back out than it is to wait until registrations are closed and hoping you can get a spot to play. We have 78 open spots, and based on the experience of our prior scrimmage, they will fill fast!

Registration is first-come, first-serve with one caveat: TG Supporting Members get priority to play over non-Supporting Members. If we are full at 78 please still register! Last scrimmage we had no-shows and players drop out. If you are on the reserve list it is highly likely you will still be able to participate in this scrimmage.

Fine, so how are we going to work this?

To make this work, we're still going to run sign-ups. We're looking for players to volunteer to be squad leader and we're looking for 2 players to volunteer to be team commander. We also just want general sign-ups, because as all of you know by now, roles on the team for sls are not just infantry roles, but also logistics, armor, etc. If you're not comfortable being an infantry sl, you can still volunteer to lead a logistics squad, a tank squad, an apc squad, a scout squad - whatever. Bottom line is don't be afraid to volunteer for some leadership. If you absolutely do not want to sl, specify that when you sign up. We're going to try to mix tg players into the squads as evenly as possible (more on that below), so just specify what role you want to play.

Once sign-ups close, the two commanders will work with the admin team to pick factions that they will command and the teams will be divided up. After that, each team is going to receive their own private discord channels to begin planning for the battle.

Sounds great, but how will the server get filled?

Best question of the day! We're going to fill the server with players that join. We will run advertisements on the server until the day of the event to encourage sign-ups. The day of the event we will run broadcasts informing the players when the event will happen. At the time for the event to start, we will hold a 5-minute briefing for the server to let everyone know that only designated players can assume sl position and to fill up the squads. Once that is done, the sls will brief their squads on the plan, get kits sorted, etc. The co can work with the sls during this briefing as well, but by this time they should all have the plan figured out. After this briefing period concludes, the admins will restart the match and it will be "go!" time. The admins will monitor the server and make sure that new players understand what is happening and enforce the sl rules. It might be a little bumpy at first, but if we follow these 2 simple rules:

    1) players play
    2) admins admin

if we can follow those, everything should be fine.

I'm sold! This sounds like fun! How do i sign up?

Now this is the best question, forget the other one!

It's pretty easy. Tacticalbot has already been programmed to handle your registrations.

    Follow these instructions:
    • Open a dm (direct message) to TacticalBot on the TG Discord server
    • Type "!signmeup <list the role or roles you are volunteering for here>" on the message line
    • Press <enter>
    • Profit

    See? Simple!!

You will be able to see your registration, along with everyone else who has registered, in the #scrim-registrations channel. You will also receive a confirmation response from TacticalBot, including what number registrant you are, once you register.

Make sure it you send a direct message, not a message in a public channel as those will be rejected and you won't be registered for the event. The admins will receive a notification of your registration and we will make sure we post those sign-ups for all to see when we receive them.

In the future, you can ask tacticalbot about any upcoming events by sending him the "!events" command.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to post them below or you can directly message myself or any of the other admins on discord in the #contact-an-admin channel.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to playing a much more organized game with all of you soon!

    Sunday, February 10th at 2:00pm Central (U.S.)
Registrations are closed. Look for future events to be announced soon!

Congratulations on the SM, Anti-Flag !

Make sure you get your Steam64Id set up in your profile so you have access to the reserved slots on the server!

It's been a very long time since I have been apart of a TG event. I miss the good ol' PR days. I am looking forward to this.
