  • WRC PC demo released...

The World Rally Championship demo for the PC has been released. It's not as pretty or detailed as say DiRT2, but IMO based on research info (Never even sat in a real rally car, lol), it is more simulation... at least the damage model, tracks (actual tracks raced in the series) etc etc...

Now I couldn't get my Fanatec wheel to work in demo, so I played with a...OMG... gamepad. lol

Do you know of any way to get this in the US? It seems it's not really going to be sold here if what I've seen is true. Guess may have to import it from the UK?

Downloading demo now btw, hope this is good.

At E3, the developers were there and told us it was coming to the US also.

      Will see i guess.

I'm just going off of looking on Gamestop, Amazon, and google searching. Hope it does.
Couldn't get my G27 to work with the demo either. Seemed stuff like the paddle shifters was mapped right but the accel/brake weren't and for some reason I couldn't get it to let me change it... used my 360 controller and played it though. Reminds me of Colin McRae 2005 as far as the physics go.

Also, I heard that the game was going to have DLC with group B cars after launch. Would really like to see that.

EDIT: Actually it might be on Amazon. Originally saw it and thought it was old info that hadn't been updated to or something but then I remembered the publisher (Deep Silver) because of STALKER Clear Sky. So that might be it but the release date is Nov 30 instead of Oct 8. Could just be like ArmA 2's delayed US release I guess.

          Re: WRC PC demo released...

The World Rally Championship demo for the PC is a good demo. It found my wheel and set it as default instantly. In the advance wheel settings it allows you to tweak your wheel and pedals, this is probably the best interface I have seen in a game.
WRC has a real feel to it, when your car comes off the ground your wheel becomes light and then very tight with the compression of landing. Unlike Dirt 2 you are allowed to countersteer to offset the oversteer of the car, and just like real life, you add power to cancel the swing of the car. Again unlike Dirt 2 all turning is done well before the apex, just like the real thing.

The gravel sound is great, but hopefully this is a work in progress, and I can lots of room for improvement. The damage is off, I should have ripped of a wheel a few times but it just gave me a yellow damage level. Stages that are in the demo are good computer stages, but not real close to the real thing. I could almost recite the pace notes for the stages in the demo, and they are close, but yet so far away.

To get the feel of a real WRC car would be an impossibility, come on we are dealing with 2.5 liter turbocharged straight five cylinder powerhouses with 4 wheel drive 300+ HP. How could you replicate that on a screen..
This is a game for the WRC fan…
          Great Video of the game…

I hope they delay until Mini, Saab and VW make their comebacks in the WRC. I also hope that the US drivers are added..We can only hope…….

I only wish someone could put this on a computer screen, listen to the pace notes…
One of the greatest rally drivers ever…
