  • [video] SP Gameplay: Fault line series episode i: Bad part of town

    http://www.ea.com/battlefield3/videos/faultline-ep1

Shows some of (I assume) the first mission in the single player campaign.
Date is confirmed as the year 2014.
Not sure if the annoying noises over the swearing is an effect added to the video or in-game.

I hope the flashing WASD display when dragging a fallen comrade goes away. (Since it's the first level of SP I guess it's part of a tutorial system).
The recoil on the guns looks interesting imo.

Youtubed... might be multiplayer footage coming out shortly here too. Apparently an embargo ends at midnight PST and at minimum some articles will come out.

Recoil system will take some getting used too...
I noticed there are visual glitches when looking down the ACOG scope: the muzzle flash is coming through the scope around 2:04-2:08
The animations are so damn fluid especially when one of the squad mates trips over himself when you take his position at the edge of the wall at the 2:02 mark
The sound is also impeccable, I could here it so well through crappy headphones!

Note that it does say it's a recording from pre-alpha software. ie. the game was nowhere near finished when they recorded that.

Wow, the graphics are AMAZING. Nice attention to detail with the player's POV, character movements, and lighting. It's cool to see how they pieced together the teaser... great job on marketing.

It's good to see more recoil on the guns, nothing to drastic, but definitely enough to encourage burst firing. Then again, this is all SP. It'd be nice to get some MP footage. Speaking of shooting, the gun takes up more than half the screen when zoomed in. Has it always been like that, and I just never noticed?

Random trivia question... whose voice is that in the beginning, at the 0:34 mark? His voice sounds incredibly familiar.

I'm really liking the minimal HUD. I hope its the intention of the developers and not because its pre-alpha.

Looks sweet. Recoil looks pretty minimal when you consider it, but then I am from a ArmA/ PR background, so maybe that influences it. Damn it looks good though.

Oh my, I know SP usually has a bit more graphical polish then mp, but if you consider the similarity between BC2 SP and MP graphically, it bodes well. Thank god I upgraded recently, fingers crossed. Already looking forward to playing and making videos. Should be able to pull off vids with a real documentary look to them.

I'd say the recoil looks about perfect....especially using a site attachment. Beautiful!

Looks like health regen again without knowing your real health. HUGE thumbs down if that is the case in MP. Also the language is flat out unacceptable. Another HUGE thumbs down. GFX wise is amazing but that has nothing to do with if it will be a good game. My impression after watching that video is that this really is more of a BC3 than BF3.

Gonna start the swear train already? Guys, its a shooter, there's blood coming out of people and you're digitally killing them. I'd rate swearing as below that, but I guess that's just me.

I do agree that it looks like a BC3. I watched at work just now with no audio, so got a bit of a different experience than you guys. It looked like he was just throwing shots out as fast as he could and bullets were finding their mark fairly easily. It was very pretty, but at the beginning of the video when the soldiers are walking down the street, they all looked incredibly rigid.

I'll hold my strong opinions until we get something to play first hand. I was very hesitant about BF3 when I first heard about it months/years ago, but a month or so ago I started feeling more optimistic. I'm starting to head back to very cautiously optimistic.

The combat is simulated but the language is real. Besides they are my morals and I am not alone as MANY people feel the exact same way.

Well as long as you declare that, then it's fine. I hate the "but my kids," argument. If you're concerned about your children hearing swear words in a game, then you shouldn't be playing it while they're around. (You/you're not targeted at you mullet)

Back to your previously scheduled BF3 speculation!

Holy crap! The running/movement/animation system [borrowed from Madden?] is so real looking!! They lean when they run around a corner! Shoulders bob while walking etc... and no annoying head-bob!!!

I can hear the complaints already.
