  • June 3rd blog update - multiplayer revealed monday, Battlelog, Team Deathmatch

    http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/batt...oes-to-e3.aspx

The multiplayer map, “Operation Métro,” available for press to play on the show floor, combines both sides of the scale into one cohesive experience. Gamers will experience a physical battlefield and be able to temporarily disable vehicles, go prone, mount weapons, lay down suppressive fire and more.
Of course there are things we will not be showing at E3, including the game’s extensive co-op campaign, the introduction of Team Death Match mode and the Battlefield 3 Battlelog web destination – featuring powerful social tools, feeds and detailed player stats. Battlelog also lets you manage your friends lists, squad up, create platoons, use voice chat and follow your friends’ progress in real-time, and more. Battlelog will be available for the monthly fee of (drum roll)... zero dollars.
Bolded the interesting stuff and a nice jab at the competition there. lol

        I'm at a Vegas sportsbook, here's the BF3 @ E3 wagers...

        Create platoons
        • Under = Ability to create groups within friends lists. Nothing more.
        • Over = Actually be able to squad up as platoons in-game.

Broke put $20 on the under.

        Multiplayer reveal
        • Under = Show MP footage. Minimal actual details.
        • Over = Both MP footage and significant details.

Broke again took the under, this time for $10 (not as confident).

Guaranteed: Hype about more details in the coming future.

Perhaps in game platoon vs platoon match making system and in-game platoon ladder board would be awesome.

          I like this comment:
Team Death Match mode really? Well at least that might keep the COD players out of conquest and rush mode where "teamwork" is most important!
Next week should be a STEAK FEAST!!

I really hate how COD players are all lumped into the "mindless lone wolfing idiot" category

anyone saying that sounds like an narrow minded, elitist, stuck up snob to me.

                  So... Confirmed:

                  Conquest. Rush. Team Deathmatch.

                  Quite possibly:
                  Squad Deathmatch
                  Squad Rush

                  In our wildest dreams:

Umm, I thought we were hoping for (at least myself) for something different than these modes that do not foster the focus of play that would not be solely based on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine, regardless of the level of advantage, if any, it gives over the opposing team. To me, this sounds like (again speculative) the same ole song and dance, but with a new engine and larger AOs.

Excited to see more details and perhaps start actually speculating about how the multiplayer will play out.

Heh.. that bit of the primer has nothing to do with what the game's objectives are - it's specifically endorsing HOW to achieve those the objectives.

edit: even in TDM, you can play with real-world tactics and strategies... flanking, suppression, feints, etc.

Very true, but still I wanted to make the point.

Ven makes his point about CoD players getting a bad rap. People, who like myself, try and stay as close to the primer in any game that I play at TG and try to bring up its points gets told to go play Arma.

All I am saying is that I feel, until video proven otherwise, that they are taking the same philosophy of game play from BC2, and implementing it into the new tittle. I know a lot of people are stoked for this game, as am I. But
temporarily disable vehicles, go prone, mount weapons, lay down suppressive fire and more.
That is some great things to implement into multi player with some great potential for new tactics to arise.

Many people are hoping for different things. Even in a tactical focused community like TG, there's a huge spectrum of what community members wish to see and prefer. Hell, even some players here stated they wouldn't mind an updated BF2. In any given group with the same goal, very few will see eye-to-eye.

Keep in mind the vanilla Battlefield has never catered to the extremely hardcore, and has always tried to find that delicate balance between fun gameplay and tactics.

This platoon thing has me interested, so you can all pop onto the server already squaded together etc. TDM sounds very "meh" though compared to conquest which is essentially TDM with objectives.
