    It's more 2142 pace but with a whole new smoother more physical movement.
    Good for those of us who loved 2142 - definitely my favorite Battlefield, including game pace.

    How is the game pace different in BC2 then 2142 then BF2?

      BF2 and 2142, from what I remember, the pace is VERY similar.

      BC2 is significantly faster than BF2, that much is certain. So it sounds like we're somewhere around 2142, and slower than BC2.

      All good stuff. One of the major issues with BF2, imo, was how jagged player movement felt. In BC2 movement seems a bit more fluid, albeit sometimes at nascar speeds.

        BF2142 was, especially for squad leaders, information overload. To be an effective 2142 player, you'd need to consider a large amount of information quickly. A BC2 player, even in the thickest of Conquest fights, considers significantly less information before making a decision.
        I'm just referencing a normal player here - a proper squad leader or CO in BF2142 was even more demanding in terms of information processing speed.

          I agree fully, I think that's one reason why I never enjoyed BC2 as much as 2142, I always preferred to out-think my opponents than out-twitch them.

              I'm indifferent to the news, merely hoping there is a bit less sprinting all over the place, which seems to be the norm. Perhaps a bit less 'rush' and a bit more 'advance to contact', one can hope.

                I think it depends on the "bleed" mechanics. If the bleed is similar to 2142 then I think it will be a fast paced game since it wasn't just hold one more flag than the opfor ala BF2 I rarely ever saw anyone defend a flag in 2142. Note I didn't say never.

                  As someone who is new to the series having just started recently with BC2, I really like the idea of this style game with a little bit slower pace. I haven't played on the TG severs yet as I'm still learning, but I love the idea of having a little more thought and coordination and a little less run and gun spam.

                    Agreed. The amount of information was in my opinion "creating" high pace, as you were aware of changing situation (every soldier, not only SL) and you should react to it. Can't imagine BF3 will have the same pace as BF2142 without all those futuristic devices designed for detecting enemy movements (IDS, PDS + all the NetBat stuff with Otus...) and other devices designed to "cheat" enemy detecting devices (cloaking device, sniper decoy).

                    Aren't the bleed rules in BF2 and BF2142 the same in general? Meaning there are assault type maps (one team starts from UCB, capturing 1 CP stops bleed, capturing all CPs puts enemy under bleed) and head-on type maps (both teams have UCBs or there are no UCBs at all, capturing majority of CPs on the map puts enemy under bleed, capturing more makes bleed faster). This is how things work in BF2142 for sure (with some exceptions from those rules).

                    Defending in BF2142 was a norm only on assault type maps, when your team was the defending one (without UCB). In other situations it's true that only experienced SLs ordered to defend if for example they had ticket advantage and there was no bleed or when they held tactically important flag (high ground, important vehicle spawn, etc.).

                    What I hope is that they don't make too many linear maps where defending means 20 minutes stand-off with grenade spam and really bad chances for attackers (like Camp G infamous Toll Station stand-off).

                      Funneled map design mixed with objects made of paper and an abundance of over powered explosive weapons is what made the game so much faster paced.

                        The bleed in 2142 worked the same as in bf2/poe2. Why you perceived it as different is the majority of played maps(camp g, cerbere, berlin, suez, shingle) on the TG 2142 server were "assault" maps where bleed only comes into play when one team has no flag. As long as you have one flag all that matters after that is having superior positioning/assets based on what flags you hold.

                        There was also the factor that with all the scanning technology in that game you didn't have to defend if the map was linear and could rely on that tech to alert you when someone was attempting to sneak by.

                              Great news indeed. Being able to sprint without a limit is too arcade-ish IMO.
