So much speculation, not sure what to make of it myself. If it is battle recorder that would be great, would like something that doesn't hit my frames as hard as fraps does when I record 1080p.

I don't think that is spectator mode. Isn't that the squad list on that screenshot of 1:37?

Look closely at a less blurry image:

In BC2, if you're in the UAV the icon next to your squad name changes to a ^.

I don't think it is Battle Recorder for the main reason of that while it does have what looks like "game time" and "Feed Rec", there are numbers in the top left that are the same font and size as the "game time" in the bottom left corner. So what is to say that this isn't just a view of the UAV while in use? I mean, a UAV could very well have a timer and a video camera to survey the battlefield and the numbers in the top left could be coordinates of some kind. So I would just call this speculation at best.

I have been trying to find the site with the article but someone played the Metro map at Gamescon or PAX. They wrote how all the unlocks were available to mess around with. Because there was an abundance he would not go thru them all. He mentioned playing around with a UAV drone you throw to the ground to launch it. This is what I believe to be what we are looking at. Notice the movement and the framing of the shot with the tank getting blown up.

Edit: Found it!

"Aug 29th
PAX 2011 Recap Part 1

At PAX there were a total of 2 Battlefield 3 areas setup. The Main BF3 Booth had Playstation 3 stations with Coop mode and then upstairs, 24 Nvidia PCs rocking 2x580s with Operation Metro TDM. I mainly spent my time at the show at the Nvidia setup. Unlike previous show builds, this had All unlocks available which allowed me to play with

EOD Bot
- Can be placed on the ground
- Player switches to camera view on EOD Bot
- Capable of Arming/Defusing MCOMS
- Can repair vehicles or torch players/vehicles

Radio Beacon
- Acts as a spawn point
- Model looks like a little radio
- Can be placed anywhere

Micro UAV
- Is thrown onto the ground
- Play switches to UAV Camera
- can push the EOD Bot around
- Used for spotting enemies
- No Weapons but to be added?

Radar Beacon
- Can be placed on the ground
- Scans area for enemies
- Only available to Recon Class

Smoke Grenades
- Could be used to cover a choke point entirely
- Should be used to hide a wave of EOD Bots attacking."

Re: BF3 with BattleRecorder / Spectator mode / Uber UAV?

The GamerSpawn analysis speculated that it could be battle recorder too or just a UAV view. My money is on it being just a UAV of some kind though. We'll see.

Yeah, the screen shows the guy's squad and health info, so he's IN game... micro UAV then I suppose.

If it was BFR there wouldn't be a map on the bottom left of the screen. Maps appear as part of your HUD in vehicles generally. Plus the squad dets are there. Traditional BFR is third person. I suspect it is either a Dev cam shot or UAV.

I highly doubt that's BFR as well. If I were designing BFR, I would haven't it recording the HUD and everything. Also, this video is supposed to be "gameplay". Last I checked, BFR isn't part of "gameplay". Not unless they made the Recorder into some sort of arcade mode that lets you play while recording with your HUD blocking up a portion of the shot (which would throw all those nice videos out the window since FRAPS and other tools already fill that role nicely).

Looks like it's the MAV

http://twitter.com/#!/NuoNou/status/104496229848842240

@Demize99 The MAV, at 1:37 in the caspian border trailer. Any details on that (what it does and who uses it)?

@NuoNou Nothing just yet, you're first I've seen to use the proper name: MAV

So no br. I would like to use it like a camera to film cool stuff once in a while though.

Why would you want the MAV to push the EOD bot?

I believe they only mention this as a physics answer. As you know some times objects just phase through each other. Even players. Depending ont he design of the game.
