  • Glitching is becoming a big problem

I decided to get up this morning and play a few but almost every game had at least one of these to the point I had to put it down and walk away from it. Now I doubt most of this will carry over to the final release, but it's still hindering my Beta experience. With that said, not only have a witnessed glitching on the first part of Metro as I'm sure all of us have by now, literally I feel like I'm running around playing wack-a-mole. But now people are using these invisible glitches where they appear dead and twitching in killcam, but they are racking up 80+ kills per game and making it impossible to defend/attack.

I find it worrisome. You would think they would give you the best possible experience in the beta to back up some of the hype. Instead they can't even provide a map that doesn't have invisible holes in it. The map is kinda a basic part of the game, I would have thought that this part would be done by now. If every map is still having these types of problems, who knows how many promises they will be able to deliver on.

Maybe, just maybe, they are using the BETA to flush out these types of issues. Personally, if I was DICE I would NEVER do a public beta. Beta would be closed and require applications with questions that will prove that you know what a beta release is before allowing you access. I'm just saying...

Not so. They've already admitted that the beta build that they gave us is over a month old compared to internal testing and the major issues like map mesh problems and such were already fixed on their end before they already gave it to us. So what are we testing again, besides server stress test?

That might very well be what we are testing, server load / network optimization. Hell, we could even just be testing Battelog. The point remains the same though, this is a beta release that is likely meant for some specific level of testing. Expecting a polished release-quality build is setting one's expectations way too high.

Off-topic aside; the glitching is really annoying. Seeing TG-named members exploiting said glitches is even MORE annoying. I probably won't have time available until tomorrow evening to play again, but every round I played always had someone exploiting like mad.

So what are these RC powered rockem-sockem-gun-toting-robots I've been seeing flying by me in-game?

Tell me about it. I quit last night cause of a TG member exploiting it. Man i wanted to say something but decided not to.

Generally, when one does an Open Beta and has to release the game shortly thereafter, most of the major glitches have already been tested and patched out and what's left are minor tweaks to UI/balance/timing issues/etc. The application process you highlighted earlier is generally how closed beta testing goes, where the devs can pull from a few hundred/thousand "dedicated" testers to test a more raw product.

Once you get to the open beta stage and start inviting thousands in with little more than a "i preordered this" or "I registered on the forums" to qualify them, everything should be working nominally. I'm not saying it HAS to (APB, NS2, MoH) but the keyword is should. Giving us a "beta" this far away from the final build and then calling it a beta is farfetched imo.

What I really think has happened is they came across delays with sony/microsoft verification, and they had already promised Medal of Honor preorders that they would have a beta before release, so they slapped something together that was already built and distributed it to appease the promised audience before release.

Not a good excuse, but a reasonable one.

I went prone and started crawling one time, and i ended up right underground under one of the mcom stations. What a perfect place to defend :P But i used the suicide from the menu to avoid people being pissed off. But the point is not everybodys that nice and it needs to be fixed.

So these players look dead but they are actually alive? Are they also immune to damage? I ask because I played a game last night that had a guy in the MCOM A room (2nd series) in the Subway and he was dead in the corner. He jerked upward, I could see the player's name, and so I shot him 3 times at point blank range with a shotgun. They all hit mid mass, hit register blood and all that, and he then jerked towards me like some supernatural zombie demon and shot me in the face. The kill showed up as the same name killing me with a weapon.

Has anyone else seen this? It was undead zombie freaky.

Also it seems like I am getting a lot of light streaking across my screen in the first park area. It looks like I'm artifacting but I'm not because it's not happening in other locations. Just that first park area. I'm assuming everyone else is also seeing this.

Expecting a polished game, no. But really shouldn't this type of stuff be taken care of before you move forward? Who cares about gun balance if you can not approach an objective without having to kill the 3 or 4 individuals glitching under it?

Sure they have told us that this is a month old, but their record of telling us similar info in previous titles is not exactly reassuring.

Like it or not, players are going to evaluate this beta as a "where they are now, and where they need to go" mindset. With that said, why would they not want to provide an up-to-date map that would instill confidence that they are getting the job done?

This could be true and disturbing. Sure they keep a promise but instead of just leveling with us they threw together so half-as$#ed beta/alpha. Hopefully other aspects of the game will not be done in a sub-par fashion in order to just keep a promise. Unfortunately I feel this has already happened with squad structure. I'm not talking beta either, from what they told us about the retail, it sounds like they halfway put in some squad stuff because they felt that they had to.

I just feel like I've been through this before, kind of reminds me of frontlines. In the end they did not deliver and the game went no where. I hope BF3 does deliver but from what they have shown us thus far (info on how squads/VOIP/lack of command structure), I fear they may not be able to.

You HAVE been through this before if you participated in the Beta for BF2 or BF2142 or BC2. It's been like this every single time. For some strange reason DICE things that an Open Beta is akin to a Demo and advertises it as such. If this was July then I don't think people would think it's a Demo but it's SEPTEMBER and the game is release in OCTOBER. Open Beta a month out is a bit... irresponsible. So either they are Irresponsible or it's a Demo labeled as an Open Beta to make an excuse for glitches, bugs and balance issues. Either way for 6 years now they have been doing this exact same thing. Which means it's time for them to learn their lesson. If this blows up in their face then I say to DICE, "You deserved it.". If it doesn't then they've dodged the bullet yet another time.

But many of us have already been saying this since day one.

I've noticed a few TG members who were alive appearing to be dead (I could only see their weapons floating mysteriously in the air). However I doubt they were intentionally doing it. The game just isn't polished enough. And this close to release time is just scary.
