  • [AAR] The BF3 GG Thread

    Post em up.

I had a great round on Tehran Highway today around 4pm EST. I gave my squad (CptCuervo, Mercenary and moedin) the orders to cap and defend Foot Bridge (B Flag) for the entire round. What ensued was an intense firefight that lasted a very long time, almost the eintire match. With the rat-at-tat-tat of bullets flying every where, screams of people being shot, cries for medic and ammo, it really made for an immersive environment. My squad was focused and remained very resilient as we only lost the flag once near the end of the round and we were fortunate enough to have another squad help out capping it back. Who ever that squad was,,, thanks!

Nothing screams TG more than defending a flag for the entire round. At least thats my take!

Another GG today around 8pm EST on Seine Crossing even though we lost the round it was hard fought. Damonte did an excellent job leading VoodooIT, DrJones and myself. Some really intense firefights over the C flag and it went back and forth the entire round. I had to blast off a few Mortar rounds to clear that bridge of the pesky tank that was laying overwatch for half the match and reaking havov.

    Anyways GG!

Yeah, that was a real close match. I had a great squad of Mancer, Grimm, and Fzero backing me up with some great revives.

Many great rounds today. Last burst was rolling with Disposable, Damonte and Glycerine, destroying the enemy on Grand Bazaar, excellent squad work. I decided not to be as aggressive as I normally am and set up a designated Alamo zone that we held, allowing us to dictate that entire flank of the map. Lots of fun.

Win some, lose some but just had one of those rounds with a great squad that keeps you coming back for more. Another round on Seine Crossing starts with fast early fighting for position and then looks like we (RU) are going to get pushed off the map. US was relentless sending troops across the river into the upper alley ways to take spawn positions to hold the map. RU had to really dig in to hold the line and push back. Just over half way through the round there was such a long fight over the D point that the RU was distracted and US pushed again and took all of the other flags. Big ticket deficit - oh no.

I was playing with theeANGELofDEATH, CQB0341 and finnius_mack. We spent most of our time defending D, floated to E and supported C. The US was very interested in our area and we seemed to have one battle after another. Great fighting on both sides over that D point. Nobody was predictable and all the angles were in play. At one point there was a dramatic late game capture supported by some skillful mortar work from CQB. At that point we noticed tickets were now even and we just had to grind it out. The entire RU team dug and held of the last few attacks to win 36-0. We snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Great teamwork and comms in the squad. GG.

Yeah great round jb4, especially after the disaster of a round I had on that same map on their server just before that. The Tags-n-Bags guys kept hiding spawn beacons around the area of D which really kept us on our toes. I think us keeping them busy on D let the rest of our team concentrate on the other flags which let the shift happen. They were determined to get D so they could get over watch on E at the same time, with hopes of pinning our team in the UCB area. We also got some great armor support from our teammates between D and E, as they attempted to keep that alley way between the 2 flags as they once again kept putting spawn beacons in the garage there. Once our team was notified of their presence there, the enemy shifted their push to the back side of D. They even got back up from Zenchi's squad a few times, which allowed them to flip the flag really fast, it flips really quick with 6 enemy on the flag. Luckily I was able to find Zenchi's hiding spot twice (and take his tags :D), to eliminate his ability to allow his mates to spawn on him again. Too bad I was not fast enough to stop him from taking the tags of the friendly mortar operator with over watch on E (Zenchi, you ran right past me to get that knife. I didnt realize you were an enemy until I saw you rip his tags off).

Again, really great round from both teams. It is nail bitters like that which really make this game enjoyable.

Hilarious moment while playing in this squad:

After we had taken and cleared the gas station flag on Caspian Border, Damonte jumps back into his jeep and tells us to climb aboard so we can move on. I run towards the jeep, but as I am within a few feet of jumping in I see an RPG scream in from my peripheral and blast the jeep while setting poor old Damonte on fire. Sorry for laughing so much Damonte.

Great squad, communication and teamwork and some awesome squad leading from Damonte even though he was new to many of the maps.

                Re: The BF3 GG Thread

Last night was a blast. The 1st MIP was able to muster a mostly full squad for a couple of hours or so in the form of myself, E-Male, Coridon and Meddler. Working together on the battlefield and in comms just makes this game so much better. I also saw quite a few other IHS squad members but I'm not sure how much they were able to join up together.

Highlights include a strong defensive stand at the market on the Grand Bazaar map. Each of us watching a direction and protecting one another on our flanks. We beat off at least three attacks before we were overwhelmed by the enemy. Revives, resupplies and timely kills were the norm.

On Damavand Peak we played a round as US Marines and defended one of the middle flags in the tunnel. The action in the middle was fast and furious but our SL stayed alive allowing the squad to keep a steady stream of reinforcements coming in. The highlight had to be all three of us laying prone on the second floor of building adjacent to the flag. We had just survived a tank barrage and infantry was moving on the flag in force. The rest of the team was at the other end of the tunnel but meanwhile a strong element had taken our back flags and was now moving towards the center to turn the tide of battle. The walls were blown off in the barrage and if we had stood or knelt we would've been discovered. We could hear the enemy milling about below as they neutralized the flag, totally unaware we heard their every move and totally unaware we were only steps away. One grenade would've wiped us out. We lay quietly waiting for the most opportune moment to respond and finally a wild firefight erupted. Bullets flying everywhere, emergency revives, furious battle back and forth but in the end we beat them off and held the flag until the round was over. Holding that flag preserved the last few tickets and sealed a victory on that map for the U.S.

We also had a lot of fun working together as a mini armored column on Operation Firestorm. First with two T-90's and then with so much air power above we went with one T-90 and one Tunguska. I'm not sure we took any planes down but we did engage not only planes but a number of enemy helo's as well. I had a blast in the commanders seat operating the .50 cal and jumping out to repair the tank when necessary. That was the first time I had played Engi and I loved it and the engi kit as a whole.

Hella Fun...I'll be back on tonight for more for sure.

                  Re: The BF3 GG Thread

Tonight was a blast again with the TG crowd, awesome rounds. Highlights were when I was in a squad with Grimmfist26, theDogwarrior, and Nerds_R_Cool, for most of the time I was the SL. BF3 is the first game where I have taken that role. Everyone listened well and we played as a cohesive squad and had some great flag battles.

The 3 rounds that stand out the most for me were Caspian Border where we left in a tank and held forest for the first 10- 15 min of the round, then moved around as needed, thedogwarrior needed to go AFK for a few minutes so he hid himself by hilltop in a bush, we used him as a mobile spawn point till he got back. We couldn't believe that no one stumbled across him for an easy kill.

Operation Firestorm was another classic back an forth, we left the US base with armour and fast mover splitting the squad to take 2 flags, we eventually rallied at C (gas station?) and held the high ground til the round ended. We kept shifting positions, splitting into pairs to cover different sides of the road as well.

Dramavad Peak was probably the highlight round though. Nerds got the chopper right away, the rest of us loaded into a Vodnik and headed for C, we took the flag and got forced off by armour, once we were all down we spawned in back at D, as we were running back to the tunnel Nerds saw us and did a fast pickup. I wish I had fraps running for that, it looked so cool seeing the chopper swooping over the hill and coming to land on the road. Nerds took us up over A & B, we then air dropped onto A. We went back and forth on A for the rest of the round. Nerds kept the chopper up providing air support. Any time the whole squad went down, we would spawn in the chopper and air drop again. It was a blast!
We won more than we lost but it was more about how we worked together than anything else. Great time tonight guys, look forward to doing it again.

This has fallen to page 3 already? What?

Hats off to Bear, Rockford and asch for several great rounds tonight on the new and improved server 2. We won some, lost some, but many were close one way or another. We mostly ran a combo Armor/AT squad. Bear did a great job in armor with asch in close support. Rockford and I ran the perimeters of the zones and spotted and dropped mines. I think we covered most maps on the rotation at least once as a squad and every one of them seemed to have great fighting and maneuvering on both sides. Good times. GG.

Had a real fun time running with Disposable, Wicks, Meddler and a few others last night. Caspian, with Dispo as SL was fun as heck, props to the squad. Another great match was Kharg as I squad leaded Wicks and ak784. We defended the E flag with just the three of us.

                      Good times...

I really enjoy playing with some well respected members here at TG that i never had the opportunity to run with in past titles.

Ps.. Skud, nothing personal... you just so happened to be in the way... :)

Yep.. I remember that game, from the opposing side. That was when I decided to try recon.. you guys had quite a few good snipers, I wanted to counter them. Turns out, I'm not that great (not yet, at least) at sniping!

                          Re: The BF3 GG Thread

So another great evening on the TG servers! I was hoping to get onto server 2 for some action packed conquest and found it was full so onto Server3 I hopped.
It started out as just 4 of us seeding Nixxon, Kaypay, and Ariflex, I joined right at the last set of m-coms on Grand Bazaar as the only defender. Obviously (to anyone who has played with Nixxon) I lost that round. Next up was Grand Bazaar again this time as attackers. A couple more people joined in and I had a squad with Blood, Lunnbelievable an fr1j0l3, this was an awesome round we pushed them to the last set of mcoms and they held us at the very last one total Round time: 45m 14s = Epic!
Comms were in full force and it was a blast. Tehran Highway was next we lost fr1j0l3 to the other team, but Lunn, Blood and I stayed together. We started as Defenders and with some great talking teamwork were able to set up a solid defense, Lunn came in as recon and was constantly calling out targets for Blood and I to take out as engi's. They pushed us off the first set of mcoms but we managed to hold them up on the second set. another 30+ min round.
The last round of the night was Tehran Highway as attackers. Kept the same squad but got the addition of Th4n4t05, we managed to push thru and win this round using what we had just learned as defenders to our advantage.

                          Great Games!

Just like to say that Lunn, Blood and Th4n4t05 made great squad mates and followed my lead even if I made a mistake. Look forward to playing a few rounds again soon!
