Ok the IRNV is officially the cheapest addon to any weapon I have seen. Is there a way to disable this in TG servers? What do you guys think? To me it seems that it pretty much makes it impossible to hide from people who use it...not to mention its supposed to be night vision infr but it works perfectly during the day?! Give me a break!

On the contrary sir it is effectively balanced in my opinion.

It is only 1x zoom, giving no magnification of view, and also obstructs peripheral vision when sighted in. There is a leadup time to scoping in with it similar to that of a 4x or 6x/7x scope, which puts it at a disadvantage against irons, reflex, or holo sights in close combat. Also, just because it effectively reveals a soldier, the user of the weapon still needs to have the competency to hit and kill them.

Frankly I see it as another factor to be aware of. There is the ever present threat of popping up on the minimap from firing your weapon or being q-spotted. I don't see this as "game breaking" in any way at all.

As far as I know they actually DO work during the day. Saw it in one of the later episodes of Generation Kill. Main character had one on his M16 and it gave a through the scope view as he shot someone.

I get that it's based in reality and that it's only 1x and all that other stuff, but yeah, I feel like I'm using a wall hack with it on. But I did just unlock it last night, and I still sucked, so I guess it's not too unbalanced.

On infantry, I don't see it, as unbalanced/unfair. Now having it on armor, along with prox scan, that is another story.

                      Glad I could help. :)

On a slightly more serious note, I haven't unlocked IRNV yet, but the times when I've picked it up I've found it a bit annoying. Perhaps it takes a while to get the hang of, but for now it seems like a mess of heat signatures. Only used it on daylight maps so far, so perhaps it's much better in dark areas, but that, combined with the lack of zoom and peripheral vision, makes me feel that it isn't overpowered.

So where does it say its supposed to be night vision??? Its a very well balanced gun sight in my opinion ......and also a valuable piece of equipment when scanning ahead to your next objective. Just another tool at everyone's disposal to use.

It says it when you hover your mouse button over it...plus I think it stands for "infrared night vision"

In most objectives, gunplay is close range. If you can come into an objective scanning with the IR scope, you can usually engage before anyone else sees ya. I dunno, I seem to wreck with the IR scope/870/flechette on most maps, even the larger ones.
