  • [AAR] Seine Crossing 11.21.11

Having fought through the meat grinder of the Paris Metro subways my squad was looking forward to a bit of R&R. Unfortunately, that wasnít to be. The enemy was still heavily fortified within Paris and in order to break what was quickly becoming a stalemate every soldier was needed at the front. The Brass had decided a strong assault on a two key bridges over the Seine would be the pivot needed to open up the enemyís stronghold and push them from the remains of Paris. That meant that we were going to have to go back out yet again and put our lives on the line. TheLancerMancer, Bolognaise, and Lunnbelievable kitted up and prepared for an assault that could be worse than what we just went through within the subways. During squad briefing the decision was made to stealth through to the enemyís staging area and set up a strong, disruptive attack that would tie up needed enemy assets and allow the rest of our forces to take the bridges and push the enemy out of Paris.

In the pre-dawn light washing over Paris we quickly made our way to the Seine, swam across, and gained a foothold dispatching the few enemy forces to our front. Bounding through the streets we made our way close to the enemy staging area and took up position in a building overlooking an enemy supply area (Delta flag). We then began assaulting the position creating havoc and interrupting the flow of men and material meant to defend the critical bridge crossings. Lunn set up the important intel apparatus that ended up being key to our ability to discern the enemyís advance on our position and thwart every attempt made to dislodge us from our position. Lancer and Bol continually created confusion and mayhem by surprising enemy soldiers unaware of our position and pushing into the supply area to do as much destruction as possible. The Brass seemed to like what we were about since they kept us steadily supplied with ammo and meds to continue the fight. Firefights erupted within the supply center and within the tight confines of the building for many hours. Over the din of battle could be heard Lancerís maniacal laughter and it spurned us on to stay the course, not to give up, and enjoy. Near the end of the fight we were relieved by our own advancing force and found the time to reflect on our good fortune and victory and the need to get Lancer some medical treatment stat.

This was one of my favorite rounds of BF3. It was a pleasure being in the same squad with these guys and tearing it up. Hope there are a few more rounds out there like this one.

Excellent write up. They where not happy that we where in that building and could not get us out. That archway was there downfall.how angry did ANGELOFDEATH get with those Rpg's and we where giggling like little school girls the whole time. Was the best game I've played so far as well.

Yes, Excellent write up. And no, I was not happy that we could not get you all out of that building. More so that I kept getting TKs as the facade dropped on the teammates who kept running passed your camp site. :P Even after the many warnings that you all were in there, that I was going to destroy the whole facade so that we could clear you out, that "Yes, they are still NW of Delta", they would just sprint through that arch, right passed you(sort of). . . too bad chat is ignored by most players.

I cant believe how many people kept running through that archway to their immediate demise. At one time I saw 4 friendly bodies there with skulls over them, which means they all died within seconds of each other. Brilliant!

I was actually laughing to myself at the same time, as my RPGs kept taking out the same 4 guys over and over, I must have killed Lunn 3 times in row, the second one also got someone else, Bol I believe... It must have been a paddle party on that 3rd floor. Great game over all, you all definitely kept us from helping on the other flags... but I have surprise for the next round I play on that map. hehehe[rubs hands together]

Great write-up Grimm and excellent game indeed! Easily one of the most enjoyable rounds of BF3 I've played yet. Serious props to the Russian team though, you had us pinned down in that apartment for a good amount of time. I at least got really desperate once you guys started fighting us in the apartment stairwell.

Yeah we where all watching that archway and the stairs to the third level. Lancer was killing everybody coming up with his shotty and me and Grimm where covering the archway, Grimm with his 240b. That quadruple kill was one of my 320s I believe. Lunn was running around like a man possessed killing everybody and dropping spawn beacons to keep us up. The plan was to take the flag and keep moving and we even tried a push for echo but the Russians just kept coming and backed us into a corner. Sometimes a corned animal is at its most fierce.
