  • All servers reduced to 48?

    I know we have tossed it around. How about all our servers being reduced to 48? Last night on the karkand maps was pure chaos with 64pl. It seems the more i play those new maps the more i wish for reduced player count. Anyone else? Thoughts?

    Agreed. Plus it would help to populate server 2 as well. Server 2 just need to be changed back to ranked.

      yeah, i agree. I think server 1 and 2 should become identical in settings and map rotation. Withthe new maps that came out, i dont even like the bf3 maps at all anymore :p you can see how poorly made they are :p

        Thank you for posting this I also agree, it can get very chaotic on some maps, on 64pl Wake island I feel like a bug under a magnifying glass.I would like to see 2 48pl ranked servers,it might make teamwork even more important.

          Not trying to be the grinch but we already have a 48 P server that has been sitting empty lately. Is the solution to change the 64 or seed the 48? I am a huge fan of the 48 P server and I agree that 64 can be chaotic at times but the B2K maps seem to have the larger scale to support more players. I like that we have both. All of us tend to join the server that is populated so seed the one you prefer and it will usually stay full.

            The karkand maps are the reason the 64 player server is packed non stop. Everyone wants to play the new maps. My suggestion is 48 player with full rotation, and 48 pl. Modified rotation which is karkand pack with select bigger maps from the original package. Other than that same settings between the two. I bet we would have 2 conquest servers loaded most nights.

              I am just going off your original post gathering you do not like 64 player size for all maps due to chaotic play sometimes and your suggestion is that if both servers were 48 they would be more populated. The B2K maps are running on server 2 48p mixed with original maps yet the server has not been populated lately. I understand server 1 is only running B2K and that has been a draw for many.

              While I agree not all maps are fun on 64 player I still believe many large maps are. A full server with large space, infantry, vehicles, etc. can support the larger number while some of the smaller maps are much better with 48. Historically, it seems people will join the server that is already populated. Since server 2 has the map mix, 48 players and is still not populated lately, I guess that is why I do not see reducing the size of all servers to that amount as a solution. I think seeding server 2 by player choice will get the population moving again and retain the qualities you are looking for.

                  Before the 48 player server was changed as a test to unranked from ranked a few days ago it was running the same mixed maps (pretty sure) in ranked mode and was still sitting empty. Leaving the ranked/unranked thing as a separate issue, my point is you have to seed a server to get people to join. I am against lowering player count on one full server just to force it on another. As a whole it is safe to say we are still in the experimentation phase of how the servers will ultimately end up and I guess we will see how it plays out. IMO, I liked the option of 64 C, 48 C and 32 Rush as all good options for different tastes. I like all modes and player counts for their stand alone pros and cons.

                    My 2 cents:

                    Everyone has B2K, may as well use the best maps for server rotation.

                    64p is fun sometimes, but perhaps certain maps such as back to karkand should not be in that rotation.

                    I wish all the TG servers were ranked - it doesnt seem to make sense, any unranked server should really just be a sandbox / testing environment.

                    Why not go for:
                    48p ranked, with the smaller b2k maps that suck at 64p
                    64p ranked, with the larger of the maps and vehicle-heavy maps
                    32p rush, is perfect as it is!

                    I feel like more would seed the 48p if it were ranked.

                      Are your serious? I think 64 player full servers it's not hectic, it's quite fantastic....it's not a problem of the population...if you are having problems it's a problem with the squad leaders not organizing. THAT can be fixed if they follow TG rules. Which I find half the time the squad leaders don't speak and take command as much as they use to compared to 2142 for instance.

                      I think we just need to push for more teamwork, leave the servers how they are. Personally that's why I play TG...tactical *64* player servers. I'm sure many others won't even look at TG servers if they are capped at 48. I myself set the filters for 32 or 64 only.

                          It was changed to unranked on Friday night (that was 4 days ago) I believe. It was a holiday experiment to see if folks really wanted to play on an unranked server where the everyone the same kits and unlocks.

                          I should point out that the 48p server has the Karkand maps in the rotation (not sure why some folks believe it doesn't) and it sat empty last week, while the 64p server usually had a queue as previously mentioned.

                            It appears that the Unranked server does not have B2K on...why? I would love some Unranked play with all unlocks but not without B2K.

                              Well that certainly is a problem... and not how it was setup originally. I will look into the problem.
