During an earnings call with investors yesterday, EA teased an upcoming announcement for Battlefield 3, which has sold over 10 million copies.

Regarding DLC plans for EA’s marquee franchises, Peter C. Ausnit, EA VP of Investor Relations, stated ”we’ve got plans for all of our major franchises to turn them into more of as we’re seeing with FIFA and with Battlefield more as games for service that have constant flow of downloadable content.” He went on to add, “you’re going to hear some announcements from us on Battlefield actually as early as next week in an event we’ve got in New York.”

Hopefully, the All American DLC rumor will be confirmed next week in New York, which is one of the locations the DLC is rumored to be set in. Also next week, PS3 users should finally get the long awaited VOIP patch.

    All American DLC

Today, we have a very interesting rumor coming from YouTuber, TheAustrianToast, regarding DICE’s plans for future Battlefield 3 DLC.

In a dual commentary with DCRUColin, TheAustrianToast revealed, ”I have a source telling me that there will be an all American DLC.” He added that these maps would be based on locations like “New York City, Miami, New Jearsey, and I think it was San Francisco.

Before Battlefield fans get a little too excited, since his sources were never revealed, we have to consider this a fairly wild but rather likely rumor. Rather likely, because if we take a look at the recent Back to Karkand maps, they are already based on various cities in the Middle East. This also seems to be the overall theme with Battlefield 3 – environments within city limits, as opposed to Battlefield: Bad Comany 2′s more open environments. It would make sense for DICE to stick with what the Frostbite 2 engine seems to do really well.

TheAustrianToast later stated in this commentary, ”I mean, the all American DLC pack is a great idea and should actually come out middle, or in the beginning of summer.

Lastly, a while back, DICE mentioned that they weren’t into making “map packs,” but rather “expansions.” This would most likely mean that we would also see a new set of weapons, vehicles, and assignments much like the recent Back to Karkand expansion. On top of Battlefield 2143 rumors, DICE also considered the idea of a snow-themed expansion, something many Battlefield 3 fans have been craving since Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Does this rumor seem likely to you? Would you love to drive a tank down the streets of New York City in an all American themed DLC?
So it makes you wonder. What the new Assignments will be for the US maps? Only time will tell. Though if they don't fix Quick Match all this new content is going to be temporary on servers and its popularity with be in waves like B2K.

    Thoughts?

I didn't buy B2K because I bought the Limited Edition, but I would have gladly payed the $15 dollars for what came in the B2K DLC.

So, if the new DLC is along the same lines with new maps and whatnot I will remain open to the idea of spending $10 - $15 for it.

Meh, I used to blow 20 bucks in quarters on a saturday afternoon at the arcade. Bring on the DLC. I will happily pay to play.

                  Looking forward to it.

I refrained from whipping out the dollars/minute calculations, as those only work for someone that is interested in the title and is currently putting in hours. If you didn't like BF3, you obviously won't enjoy the DLC : )

This better be some fantastic stuff for me to buy it. The game just isn't doing it for me anymore. I'm burning out on it just like I did with BC2. I'd rather go back to playing BF2. If it's 2143 I'll buy it but feel guilty about it.

Who knows maybe they'll fix my crippling punkbuster kicks if I buy the expansion.

The BF2 expansion "Armored Fury" took place largely in America. Some of the best maps were in that expansion.

I would LOVE to see some American urban landscapes.

I hope this rumor is true! American Weapons could mean some really interesting unlocks, too. Let's hope for an AAC Honey Badger!

I find that taking a break from it and playing a totally different game(for me sky rim and arma) brings back the awe and fun of the game. I would be happy to outlay 20 bucks for an expansion

You all know you will buy the next DLC due to the fact TG servers will add the next DLC to its map rotation.
