  • BF3 + Risk =

    as seen on reddit/BF3: http://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield3..._****_awesome/

    First off, here'e the link:
    http://www.global-conflict.org/viewt...?f=263&t=16757

Here's a quote to get you started (and for those that can't read the page)

Every Saturday, 2 armies fight, 32v32, on our private BF3 servers. Battledays last 6 hours, but you can come and go as you please. Standard battle time is 10am-6pm PST / 1pm-7pm EST / 1800-Midnight GMT / 19:00-01:00 CET.

    WHAT IS IT?

A whole new way to play Battlefield 3. We turn each BF3 map into a small battle in a larger war. We are NOT a clan. Instead, when you join GC you are placed in one of two armies. Each army has a strict hierarchy, with a general at the top and several squads with their own captains, lieutenants, etc. Every Saturday, these two armies clash in a 6-hour battleday for control of territories on the campaign map. It's like playing Risk, where every dice roll is a round of BF3.

    Re: BF3 + Risk =

That's pretty cool. There's variations of this already running, one of which is 21st Century Warfare which a battlebook friend plays in and I signed up for. That one is US vs. Russia for control of Europe, though. Anyways, I have not had the opportunity to play in 21CW yet but these campaigns are usually well coordinated from what I can tell, and everyone I've talked to about them say that they're really fun.
You know what attract bullets the most in Battlefield 3?? MY HEAD!!

They used to do this for 2142 if I remember correctly.

Sounds almost exactly like the thing they've done for the BF2 mod Forgotten Hope for years, only not a ww2 campaign.

Edit: Found it. It was called World at War.

The World War Tournament features a large international community that plays FH2 the way it was meant to be played: as a team. Use TeamSpeak2 and authentic chains of command to achieve victory on the battlefield.
Sign up and become part of a division and fight your way across many new custom maps every week, striving towards the ultimate goal of total victory.

What can the World at War Tournament offer you?

Massive 11-hour 64-player engagements every Saturday.
A complete gaming experience. Relive World War II as if you were there. Earn badges, medals and promotions and rise from an enlisted man to become and officer and lead your troops.
Coordinate with your company brothers in arms on the battlefield using TeamSpeak 2 technology. A microphone is recommended but not mandatory.
Best of all: WaW is completely free! Join up today and play FH2 the way it was meant to be played.

DICE needs to make a comical boxing glove attached to a spring punch the player in the face 40% of the time they get into a helicopter or jet.

                  Re: BF3 + Risk =

I played in the FFTF and 21CW BF2 leagues a few years ago with troublesome4u. The league was much more disciplined than TG, with the chain of command and SOPs/rules STRICTLY enforced (As a newbie Private I was reprimanded for a knife kill :row__787:). A total military minded setup. What was great about the league then was BF2 's ability to have the maps, weapons, assets, etc. modded. The battlefield, for example, was between two Armies, in my case Russia vs U.S., fighting on a huge 8-10 flag map with map grids and check points. Each army had separate infantry, armor, air, and command divisions. You started as a private and worked your way up by combat and leadership effectiveness and promoted by your leaders, not by game design rewards. The game structure was still BF2, not PR, just modded and customized. The devs/modders took the best weapons from the different BF2 mods and incorporated them into the 21CW specs. Each battle had a new map never seen before by either side. The leaders received them and the map was then practiced separately by each team. Obviously, we just can't do that with BF3 :icon15:.

There were practice requirements during the week in order to be eligible to play on the tourney days, which were twelve hours long on Saturdays - yes twelve hours! Loads of intense fun. I eventually left due to real life time constraints. Here's some old screenshot of the practice "formation" that each platoon did for roll call and assignments (Take notice of the ticket count):
