  • [Alpha] Expectations of the Opposition

What do we know about the other team? There are plenty of us who've played with them a bit, so what do we know about them that might give us an edge? What strategies should we look out for? Do they have any ridiculously good pilots/armor operators/infantrymen? We have the list of members on Team Bravo--let's build ourselves a picture of what we perceive their strengths and weaknesses to be. A better understanding of the enemy always helps toward victory.

    Re: Expectations of the Opposition

I would expect a dedicated Javelin squad, armor with guided shells, and at least three soflams when Team Bravo is RUS. They will know where the armor spawns for US and will most likely look to heavily contest one of the flags that spawns armor for US and probably find the right angle to pound the US tank as it spawns at the other flag (sorry, forget the flags designations that actually spawn the US armor). I believe that a further priority will be to actively destroy attack chopper and the AMTRAC. They, too, know that Charlie flag is key to RUS winning a round and will not have armor stray far from the flag/airfield area.

As US, I think there will be a sneaky end around manuever to get behind Charlie flag by at least one RHIB. I could see them using RHIBs as prime insertion while we are focused on destroying their air assets.

    More disjointed thoughts may follow.

      Re: Expectations of the Opposition

The way I see it, there are two ways their defense would start out:
      1) Concentrate their team on C and have one squad defend the outer flags, assign forces reactively as the assault progresses.
      2) Evenly distribute squads among the outer flags and C in preparation for a broader assault.

Strategy 1 can be defeated by sending half of our team to one side of the island and the other half of our team to the other side of the island.
Strategy 2 can be defeated by massing a lot of people onto one side of the island.

The importance would be recognising which one they're using quickly enough to exploit its weaknesses. My nightmare scenario is one where the enemy team controls 3 flags (C D E or B C D would be most likely) and pretty much stalls any offensive with Javelins and the natural choke points on the map.

Note: the approach between B and C is terrible for any sort of attack. It's just too narrow. A and B are much easier to take off the back, but any sort of move on C would require moving in from D and E.

        Re: Expectations of the Opposition

When it comes to individual players I'd like to keep xBadger at a distance and out of a vehicle.
I will be looking for E-male to be where you'd least expect to find an enemy, like being a mobile spawnpoint by the hangar at the airfield.

Other than that I don't really know the play styles of the others. Of the names I recognize there are a good amount of players who are good at communicating and shooting.
This is going to be fun!

I fully expect E-Male to be tasked with defending the carrier when playing for the US team, and him doing so meticulously and methodically. :D

There's no doubt the other team has some fantastic shooters. I think we can expect Beat to SL, at the very least, and probably E-Male. I second Lien in that we want to keep xBadger as far away as possible--he's kind of ridiculous at the game. Anyone have a feel for any good armor pilots/teams on the other side? It'd be good to know what we're up against there.

Dillweed will probably fly something; I think he liked flying in 2142

Draeh will be all about anti-air

Fl1p will be either in a infantry squad in armor

Badger will be making our infantry and armor sad

Im gonna predict that the 70th wil be tasked with taking C and that it is going to be a tough task to stop them.

The downside to the 70th's approach is the same as their strength, they move very fast, and often. If you find yourself at a flag that they are attacking if you try to simply hit them head-on then you will probably end up dead, but if you can find a corner with a good bit of cover that it blocked from view from their approach angle and simply wait for them to blow past then one or two people with good aim have a good chance of wiping the squad.

                    Re: Expectations of the Opposition

Looking at their team's roster, I kind of expect them to bumrush C at the beginning of the round with AAV+heli from the carrier direction and two-three squads in RHIB from the opposite direction, and relying on their individual skill, surprise, and flanking to get rid of anyone over there. I think it'd be a high priority to immediately set up defensive positions on C at the start of the round.

I too see Dr. Beat as a SL. If UnLoad plays he will be in armor. Probably ProjectNA in armor and/or SL. E-Male will be a SL and be defending an objective, probably C. Many of the player names I do not recognize so have no knowledge of their play styles.

Will IHS's be mixed up or will we/they run together?

I run with badger a lot. His squad will be a tough one. He moves very quickly....and very aggressively. I don't see him hanging at C much due to the fact that he IS very effective at taking flags. If you get voodoo, badger and skud in the same squad you had better have an aggressive squad to hit them back or take them on....if only to tie them up and keep them busy.

I agree with that, although I believe that he meant that Badger's squad will be hitting Charlie on offense as it is the key to the map. Who ever owns Charlie has the AAA, a tank and the RU air assets. . . that are really needed to keep the US at bay or to push the RU off the map.

On defense, I see him being used in the fast response unit, coming to where ever we are hitting with the most force.

They have a lot of strong players, but so do we, it will all come down to good communication, spotting the enemy and which team gets the most successful revives.

I would like to add that Buflak will probably be a dedicated nightmare in the sky.
