  • hardware specs performance, FPS and BF3

As I am not participating in the Beta and won't be purchasing the game for a while (need new hardware).

I would appreciate some feedback on hardware specs and its performance with the BF3 beta.

What are your hardware specs particularly cpu and gpu and what is the average frames per second?

    What are the video settings?

    Thanks for your help.

    Phenom II x4 945 ~3.3
HD 4850 1gb (will upgrade later)
    8gb RAM

Have been getting around 20fps on 1900x1200 on Medium with 4x AA and 4x AF.

    Then on another computer
    Phenom II x6 1100T 3.3
    GTX 580 3gb
    8gb ram

    I get about 60fps on high/ultra at 1900x1080.

        I am on a i7-860 2.8ghz, 4gb ram, ATI HD6950 2gb, 1920x1200 on "auto settings" (almost everything on high) and get 40-60fps

OG, how many cores on the 1100T are used significantly?

Re: hardware specs performance, FPS and BF3

Well, I need to upgrade gfx, ram, and processor (and therefore mobo, as well). But my first step will be gfx. Hopefully the processor will do OK in the time being. It's an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz.

So, I need some help with choosing a card. I really didn't want to spend more than $200, but I think I might stretch a little past it. There's a few 6870 models that are under $200. But here's one with 2GB (whereas most are 1GB).

For a little more, here's a 6950 that I'm also looking at. It has 1GB-- the 2GB models are quite a bit more.

So, which one would be better? Do you think either one would do decently well for the next 3 years or so?

I've chosen to go with ATI/ AMD instead of Nvidia because only the ATI cards have mini display port out. I've got a 27" iMac that I'd like to try to use as a monitor for gaming, as well. But it has to be directly mini display port to mini display port-- no adapters.

Well. i dont have AMD overdrive on that computer, but task manager says its 60% useage.. with one or two cores about 7-15% lower usage then the others.

                          On the low end:
                          E8400 @ 3.3 Ghz
                          GT 8800
                          4 gigs RAM
                          New nvidia drivers 285.xxx
                          1920x1080

Perfectly playable on low-ish settings. If you thought that you MUST upgrade your old card just to play it, that's not the case.

I'm closer to the boat Beatnik is in although I'm running quad core vs dual core and I'm still rocking a non-widescreen LCD so I'm actually running 1280X1024 which I'm sure helps.

                            Phenom II X4 425 (2.8Ghz)
                            4GB RAM
                            1GB Radeon 4850

I initially ran it auto and everything was high except the one medium and seemed fine. I switched to medium for a bit to see if there was a performance increase and really didn't see much visual difference between stuff at medium and high so to keep the beta download size manageable maybe they didn't include everything for all of the different configurations.

However, I think I need to upgrade from my stock CPU HS/F because it's making my temperatures it's bitch. I blew stuff out to test again today but after a few rounds last night my CPU temp was 166F. Ouch.
