  • On Bad Mouthing the Team In-Game

I grow tired of the in-game complaining about pubbies and those who do not play in the same manner as TG's advanced veterans play.

Complaining about the team while in-game is probably futile, aggravates others, and is simply annoying.

Almost every game now comes with whining about how people are not playing in front of the MCOMMS or some other matter.

    Give it a rest please.

There are countless styles of play other than your own, and when you complain about those in the back of the back, you overlook many factors, the least of which is that some simply prefer to play in a fashion other than your own.

Please think twice about complaining about pubbies (a derogatory term that should be banned for the vocabulary of a group that defines itself as mature, teamplaying communicators). Such talk reflects poorly upon an open community that educates, trains, and welcomes new members whatever their level of talent.

    True that.

If you really want those players to play different, you need to step up and make a difference. Get in a squad with them and show them how its done. Type out communications to get them involved and invite them to join us on teamspeak so that they can fully understand.

The complaining without taking action to try and fix your issue is pointless and demoralizing.

agree...we were all public players at one time.

and for those that sit in the back of the back and actually do something ....i do have to give props to folks like E male and Helm as they do a good job at defending objectives with their kits when people like me run around all over the place mad like a rage zombie.

Thats why TS is not a replacement for VoIP. And why i barely frequent the TS channel. We, as a community, bitch about it instead of fixing it.

I have to agree this is a terrible trend that, for whatever reason, has been picking up a lot lately and I have to say that I notice it coming from the same players over and over. Brushing aside the fact that complaining about your team's actions or performance in-channel should be unacceptable, people often do not realize that when they complain about the overall team they might only be addressing 5 or 6 people that are actually in teamspeak channel.

          One example:

Let's say you're on a team defending on rush. The enemy team arms the mcom and only a few players make it there to attempt to disarm it, but they fail because they're overwhelmed. While this is happening someone in Teamspeak is screaming, "GET TO A, GET TO A, GET TO A, A IS ARMED. OK FINE DONT DISARM IT". Meanwhile there were only 7 people in teamspeak, half of which were probably dead and waiting to respawn while this person spams the teamspeak channel.

These people do not deserve to have that one person berate them on teamspeak and have the perceived inadequacies of an entire team dumped on them.

"visitors" is a better "label" than "pubbies", encourages better treatment I think

Alright here's my rant of the day; While I feel complaining on TS is pretty annoying on a regular basis (if someone really big happens then its fine once), what is wrong about labeling people pubbies? Let me get this straight, pubbies in my opinion are not public players, they are anyone on the team who is not in TS, because if they get on TS then it means they have the will to try to use teamwork so they become elevated to "other people" or "teammates." So A: If they do not have the will to work tactically by getting on TS, then there's nothing wrong with giving them a "derogatory" name or B: If they are simply random visitors, they are not on TS anyways so they can't hear you call them names. Besides, if you do happen to complain and you complain about the "visitors", then what if one is in TS? They will know that they are in the group that you are referring to, and you may drive them away from TG. If you mention pubbie then they may not know what it means.

Since being in TS with some people is so annoying, i refuse for the most part to do so. Hence, you are going to call me a derogatory name?? Thats real mature.

Why would you want to hold everybody that is not in Teamspeak with such contempt? Is that really the attitude you want to have for people that are new to TG and have just stumbled upon our server? Do you seek out the Teamspeak/Vent server for every other server you happen to play on? If not, doesn't that make you a person who has no interest in teamwork according to your own guidelines?

Regardless of what you label people that aren't in Teamspeak, nobody wants to hear people complain about their team period.

This is the essence of the matter. Dissing your own team is simply rude and inconsiderate.

And BTW, "Pubbies" is a derogatory term, both in definition and in common use.

Re: On Bad Mouthing the Team In-Game

@ Hitest & Voodoo, just because I call people pubbies does not mean I hold them in contempt, I mentioned the word derogatory because it was the phrase that E-male used in his opening post (here, I even added quotation marks so you would know I do not actually feel that way about it). I was giving an explanation to why I feel we should be allowed to call people pubbies, for there is nothing innately wrong with the phrase in my opinion. I gave clear examples to how calling people pubbies (even if you all feel it is derogatory) does not actually hurt anyone and I feel that an admin should please prove this point wrong before we add any restrictions to this word. I mentioned in my post that I do not like people who complain and I feel strongly in that manner, but hate me if you like but I also stand firmly on my point that I personally feel that we are adding an evil stigma to a simple word here, which does not need to be added. Heck, if you guys add a restriction to this perfectly good word I will go to the point of removing my TG tags simply so that I can continue to use it in my normal, unoffensive manor even if you all do not agree with me at all.

Edit: When I said rant above, I really mean it and I feel very, very strongly about this.

Did you caught players doing so and if yes did you do something about it right away? If you did then the issue is solve since the players who did that know by now that this is unacceptable. Dont forget that you can always report players to admin in game !report or !admin if i remember.

I disagree with banning words. Swearing i can understand but pubbies com on..we r not talking about a major offense to anyone here...

lets just chill out and play :D
