  • Comms Chaos

Everyone in the same channel -- 16 voices, communication chaos. I know it may be the preferred way to play, but not for me.

People arguing over tactics, complaining about the performance of others, providing non-specific information, talking over each other. Fun stuff.

All this leaves little space in the comm channel for squad-specific comms.

I'll play in my own teamspeak channel, even if it means playing alone.

I agree. I prefer TS members to be broken out into their individual squads. Channels with more players tend to add a lot more unnecessary comms, specifically banter and complaints that we can do without. Don't get me wrong, little comments every now and then are ok, but theres been a lot of it lately.

IMHO, this needs to be self-policed. Don't be afraid to remind people if its gets a little noisy. I have reminded, and I have also been reminded myself. As long as its done tactfully, you should be fine.

I ate lunch with my 3rd grader yesterday, and they turn the lights off in the cafeteria when the noise level gets too high : )

Perhaps you guys need to revisit the possibility of using Mumble for BC2 so your comms chaos is limited to those in your immediate vicinity and not the whole team.

Less random yelling in TS can help; Able, Flip, and I changed to a separate channel the next round and we did much better then before.

Has anyone thought of increasing the timer by 5 seconds so whisper .lists could be set up or is that to long to sit?

I still dont see the problem, I under stand what yall are saying but if it gets to be too loud all you have to say is "hey lets keep the comms game oriented". As for the unclear orders all you have to do address the person that you are talking to.

This was addressed in another thread by Namebot. You can set up permanent team-wide whisper lists by dragging squad channels 1 to 4 on each team into their own whisper list. All you have to do is remember which team you are in.

                        Re: Comms Chaos

After playing tonight (Sunday) in a group teamspeak channel once again, I see that, as others have asserted, group TS can work. It does not leave room for the type of SLing that uses fireteams or advanced comms, but it can work.

There was a distinct difference in the quality of group comms tonight, compared to the madness of last night. One cannot expect such things to always be the same . . .

So I must admit that I do not mind playing in a decent (disciplined) group teamspeak channel when I am not leading fireteams.

(And I also have noted one individual in particular, not a TG member, who is a chronic complainer regarding people he thinks are not playing the way they should. Now that I know the source of at least some of the complaining I'll address it directly in-game at the time. Enough is enough.)
