  • Spotting in Vietnam - Good or Bad?

I'd like to bring up one issue that I've noticed in the Vietnam maps. The maps are smaller with lots of foliage and require a lot of close quarter fighting and if you spot an enemy, they can hear your call. I spend a lot of time in the bushes now trying to spot the enemy before he spots me and many times I've heard the enemy close by and know that I'm in danger. That means if I Q-spot an enemy then he knows I'm around too! (I've got a Turtle Beach headset with surround sound so I know the general direction of the enemy call. Comes in handy!)

Sure, I know. Our snipers are sure to be safe at a distance, but should we be Q-Spotting in Vietnam maps like we've been taught? As for myself, I'm trying to resist the automatic Q-spot for my own tactical advantage. So, is this wrong?

I say spot then spot again and spot once more.

Yeah the automatic audio calls from your character end up playing a big part in CQB tactics. I hope they reconsider the way they work in future iterations of the franchise. Worst part is you don't even hear everything your own character says so you just have to know the sort of things that trigger the voices.

You gotta make a judgment call whether to spot or not. Is this guy you want to spot part of a squad about to flank a group of nearby friendlies or are you by yourself behind enemy lines providing a spawn for your squad. Decisions decisions.

Im not sure i agree with Namebot about a "judgement call". IMHO the benifits highly outweigh the negatives.

Speaking of vocalizations giving away positions: using grenades as poor man's recon balls. If they land close enough to the enemy, the enemy will shout out.
