What do you love about BFBC2? What do you hate about it?

I love how the game looks: the maps, the terrain, the player models and all of the graphics are top notch - its breathtaking at times.

I love the intense firefights, the accuracy and feel of the weapons, the minimap and the gamemodes.

I hate that there is no drawn out suspense, The maps feel small, the action seems constant, there are no peacful moments to contemplate life. I miss moments to banter a bit with your squad while flying in low in the helo or taking the back route in a jeep. Slow and careful game play is not rewarded in BFBC2. 2142 and BF2 both had those moments, most of the time spent in PR is that suspenseful state. BFBC has good tactics, but it rewards "Run and Gun" way too much.

I hate that in game VIOP is broken. The styles and habits of most of the players are shaped by playtime on a server where no one uses VOIP. The level of teamwork is reduced to spawning on green and shooting at stuff in the direction the other green arrows are pointing. The game is such that this level of teamwork is really all that is needed to be successful.

It is still worth my time, but it will not steal my soul.

    Re: love hate

Love that the TG community is here. Love the look of the game. Love the balance (for the most part). Love the destruction stuff.

Hate the maps. Hate the tanks being darker than a Bulgarian disco, UAV stations are always in the open making it near to useless, lack of VOIP, killcam, hit boxes, lag, no prone, no in-game VOIP, some Rush levels are entirely retarded, maps are too small, servers don't hold enough people, "twitch shooter", did I mention I wish VOIP worked?

Love: (In order of most love to least love)
      + Destructo environment
      + RUSH game mode
      + Tracer Darts
      + Effective Smoke
      + Overall Look

Hate (In Order of most to least hate):
      - No Voip
      - Carl G
      - The fact people are able to consistently and effectively use sniper rifles at close range and LMG's on the move.
      - Mcoms in buildings
      - 3D Spotting
      - no compass
      - Not being able to have a decent AR as a medic.

Can we stop beating this "no-voip" horse to death?

TS3 gives us all we need - I also don't have to hear a 12 year old screaming at me.

What did you all do before voip was commonplace in every new release? You used a third party. People don't want to use squad channels, but demand squad voip in game. People don't display leadership often, blaming the game, and still demand a command structure.

Most of you played the beta. You then bought or preordered on first day.

I'm not attacking, I'm just confused as to why, almost a year later, you're all stuck wishing for silly things that were never really promised.

Yes we used 3rd party programs...though not because it was ideal but because is was the best available at the time...kind like the situation now with BC2.

Voip is commonplace in every decent FPS for the past 5+ years therefore its not unrealistic to want/desire working voip in this style of game. I would also argue for every screaming 12 year old there are 5 decent mature gamer who happen to not be part of TG and in our TS.

Although it is true that TS is the best we have under the circumstances there is no mistake that overall teamplay does not suffer by not having voip since you will never have 100% of people using TS.

Finally, clearly many don't agree with your statement that TS is all we need or else they would not list it as things they hate. This post is for discussing peoples personal opinions, there is no right or wrong answers here.

Edit @ Voodoo: I think there is a difference between realizing we will never get TS and not having an opinion that we wished we did. I agree there is no point in bringing it up in TS to complain about but I think people are allowed to say they don't like not having it in a thread specifically designated to voice those opinions of things they do and do not like about BC2.

Somebody had to say it. Yes, not having working in-game VOIP is pretty inexcusable nowadays, especially when your previous titles like BF2142 had it, but right now the only thing more annoying than not having in-game VOIP is hearing people complain about it every day in Teamspeak. Seriously guys, we're almost a year out from the game's release. Along with death and taxes, I think we can chalk up no BC2 VOIP with the other certainties in life.

It's a thread about love/hate with game features and mechanics. If you didn't want to read people harp on about VOIP maybe you shouldn't read the thread. If you want to read the other pros and cons of the game then I suggest you do your best to move past the VOIP comments without starting a VOIP-based discussion within the thread.

                    • Playing the game for what it is
                    • Discussing Strategies
                    • Playing TG-centric scrims

                    Hate:

                    • Comparing it to other games saying it *should* be more like said games
                    • Hardcore mode

                      Re: love hate

I try to take games in stride and love them for what they are not hate them for what they aren't. While BC2 is no real BF game it is not a CoD game either and I personally find it quite fun when playing with other people in this community (it's a bore pubbing by myself though). I prefer to think of it with a glass half-full approach (and considering I lag 100x less in BC2 then I did in 2142, that means its a glass half-full that I can hit from 300 yards away :))

                      With that said I like:
                      • No Lag unless my comcast dies
                      • Destruction
                      • Smoother and more realistic feeling motions
                      • Scrims
                      • The community
                      • Balance
                      • The general "feeling" of the guns compared to other FPS's
                      • White Pass Conquest

                      Hate:
                      • HC being all snipers
                      • Heavy metal
                      • Small maps
                      • No "real" squad system
                      • No command system
                      • Complaining in the forums
