  • About that [Gay] Tag

A few nights ago I was playing around with in-game tags and used this one:

    [Gay]

I believe that some people may have taken offence. First let me reassure you a that I will not use that tag again as it has offended.

    Now let me explain.

It is no secret that the gaming community (and I do not mean TG) has a fairly strong homophobic bias to its culture. Anyone that spends any amount of time on a public server would readily acknowledge this.

My use of the term [Gay] in my tag was intended to reposition the word as something to celebrate.

The [Gay] tag was intended as an affirmation of the gay community and an act of solidarity.

I am not sure if it was the [Gay] tag that was the source of offence (the only other tags were [Bunnie] and harmless plays on other people's names, such as [xBadered], as far as I can recall).

Thus the meaning and intent behind [Gay].
