  • router issue?

So here's the deal. I can launch the game fine, log in fine, even pull up servers fine,....but for some reason when I try and join the server I get a spinning circle and then "lost connection message. When I do the "play now" it puts me in a server instantly? Now once I am in a server and take an mcomm or flag I can hop out and join our server fine? I have tried setting my router to DMZ, I have tried port forwarding, all to no avail? I'm stumped? It's kind of a pain to have to go through the "play now" scenario just to be able to get in our server....any ideas?

I've been getting that too, Ven. I think someone said it's a problem with the TG server. I got a router too, a Linksys.

This has been happening to me a lot when I start up BC2. The simple fix for me has been to restart Bad Company 2 and log back in. Usually works on the second try.

Are we talking about the TG server?

Yeah gunney....I can "play now" join just fine....but when I try our server it usually takes me 2 or 3 restarts of the game to get it to work.

I'm pretty sure I've had that network connection lost error happen on other servers too.

              Re: router issue?

I had that "Lost connection" with the TG server last night just after I got in after waiting in que. I wonder if the problem is the delay involving the scripts for paying TG members. Lets keep track of where we lose the connection at.

It happens while trying to join other servers as well.

                Or what VoodooIT just said.

                  You need more RAM :icon12:.

Just tried joining our server, and a few others, and had no trouble. It occasionally has happened to me in the past too. Usually restarting a few times will do the trick. May be a server-side problem from time to time...?

                  Still happening to you?

Can you join on a friend?

You might simply be losing packets or your connection is timing out.

                    - Make sure UnPnP (universal plug and play) is enabled in your router settings.
                    - Try disabling any software firewalls (including Windows Firewall) and your router's firewall.
                    - Manually update Punkbuster. You can download the PB updater at http://evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php . Normally PB updates itself when you play but for various reasons some clients do not always update. It has happened to me plenty of times and you have an old version of PB then you can lose packets between you and the server.

                    Good luck!
