  • Dealing wit Activision

^oops on the thread title, sorry...

    Well, here's the story:

I recently joined what I later discovered was a hacked server. I noticed the team scores where negative (it was on team death match). When I got kill the xp awarded was not the usual 100, but something like 1.000008+E.006 xp. Then all the career achievements started coming up in successive order and I realized the server had awarded me a humongous sum of xp and I was now rank 50. I promptly disconnected but it was too late, my stats had been saved.

I am NOT happy about this.

I contacted Activision through their online support base and asked them to reset my stats (my fried said this was possible, and I see no reason why it shouldn't be). Thus far they have danced around the question and said "There is no way to alter your stats information as we do not have any method by which to alter your account information." This was after I replied asking if Treyarch could do it.

I am wondering if you all have any suggestions as to what I should do.

I also tried their phone line, which referred me to the online support base for multilayer support issues.

    Many thanks.

Well Tarmus, I have looked all over the place and have not found the usual file that stores rank. The only thing that I can think of that might do the trick, is to delete your local content for the game, via the right click menu in Steam.

This may or may not work so, you may want to wait for a more intelligent suggestion than mine. But, if you decide to try delete/reinstall route and need any help, just lemme know.

    Good luck.

I believe they changed it with this release...stats are no longer in a local file, they are tracked online like all the battlefield games

Since me and a friend of mine both had our ranks bug out and reset in WaW I assume it's possible here too. Look for a file called playerstats and delete it. No clue where it's stored in Black Ops.

Well thank you everyone who responded, I certainly didn't expect this much help this early.

I have considered prestigeing, however I don't want to if I don't have to (I will if there is on other choice). The reason being It is still not representative of my accomplishments, which are far from substantial.

I'm glad to hear someone else has had their stats reset in a CoD game before, I won't be letting up on Activision any time soon. If you all have any good ideas, or just ideas, of what to say to them I would be happy to take them :)

Ryder: Did you reset your stats yourself (i.e. messing with local files) or get activision to do it?

              Thanks again

                Re: Dealing wit Activision

In CoD4 and CoD5, there was a file that you could delete or back up called mpdata. As I said in my earlier post, I looked all over the place for that file, or something similar and found nothing. A half hour on Google also turned up nothing. I think that is the file that Ryder is talking about.

I understand your frustration at having stats that don't reflect your accomplishments (or lack thereof, hehe). But, I don't think I would worry too much about Activision or Treyarch making a big stink out of it. They have proven over and over that they don't really give a damn about the stats padders and xp farmers in their previous titles.

Anyways, if I hear of a way to reset stats, I will be sure to post it up here.
