  • The Server 2 Config Suggestion Thread

    Lets use this thread to suggest config changes to the server gods and see if we can get this thing tweaked just perfect.

    Perhaps Drona would be good enough to post up the config file so we can see what we can play with?

    Also, lets keep this thread on topic so that the admin team can see when actual suggestions are posted. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for starting the thread MK. Thanks also to the folks that played in the CM last night. Your patience while all this stuff gets sorted is appreciated. I'm sure there will be plenty of disagreements on settings. As Mindkill said, please keep the thread on topic.

    One issue we know about, and I'm researching today, is that the default movement and sprint speed is way too slow compared to the stock game. Balfa noticed it right away and we tried to up it with the setting provided but I guess I didn't give it enough gas. My goal for today (sno day!) is to get the player movement on server 2 to be the same as the stock ranked game.

    Personally I'm not interested in restricting weapons the game provides to the players or slowing the movement speeds down. IMO that stuff should stay stock. I'm more interested in tweaking the game mode settings by lengthening round and bomb countdown timers. For instance, on last nights matches, bomb countdowns were set to 75 seconds, up from 45. For CTF the capture limit was upped to 5 - LOL, that was totally unnecessary as the defenses were so good last night it was impossible to even get one flag cap.

      Mediator and I did a little testing with the movement speed this morning and we think we got the number about right. If folks have a chance, hop on the server and test it out then report back here. Thanks.

          For starters, I'd be good with upping all the timers, plant timer, bomb fuse timer, defuse timer, round timer, player respawn timer, flag respawn timer (to stop capture-grab campers).

          If all that's possible.

              Increased captures/rounds/bombs/whatevers on all modes would be a plus, IMO.

                        I'll try and look over those suggestions this evening. Thanks for taking the time. I want to hear from more than 2 people before we make any major changes though so now's the time for folks to chime in. If you don't know what a setting does, ask away and we'll figure it out.

                        We can play test some settings if we can get enough folks that are willing to spend an hour or two some night so we can run through them.

                            Also note that my suggested changes are relatively conservative and don't necessarily reflect how I'd ideally like to play the game :p

                              I'm all for the listed changes. I'm at work and don't have the time to comment on every line but would be interested in testing this out as well. Tonight maybe? I'll be on around 9 est. I haven't played the unranked, or any unranked server yet. Can you play the game with only a few people (without prematch ffa)or do you need to have the minumum of 6 or 8?
