echo _Casey's Config v2 (CAL compliant) loaded

This is for any of you who would like to try something new. I use it and it has helped me alot.

Note: To use it, you need to:

    1. open note pad and copy and paste it
    2. save it in your Program Files/Valve/Steam/Steamapps/"yourname"/counter strike/cstrike/cfg folder and name it autoexec.cfg

Now it will run all these commands every time you start css.

This config does not work on our server or atleast i'm told.

You mean this helped you rack up kills?

        Re: autoexec.cfg

It should work .. there arent any cvars on that cfg that are controlled by the server other than the netcode and the fps, Though I am not quite sure why you would reduce so many of the graphical features unless you have a very low end graphics card or low memory on your computer that just cant handle cs:s.

There are only a couple of useful items I see there for example the ability to turn off downloading of sounds. But again that is just a matter of convenience so you dont have to wait to dl public sound files.

Oh yeah one other item I would like to mention, you show the use of the netgraph still. In source that is a bit outdated if you are using it to monitor your framerate. A less intrusive command for that would be cl_showfps "1", This command puts just your fps in the upper right hand corner and indicates in 3 different colors red, yellow and green the quality of fps. Just my opinion, not trying to bash or anything so dont take this post wrong..

thanks Itachi - I didn't know about this file and was wondering why my settings were always getting killed - now they are not!

Great starting point for me - appreciated!

Itachi> I wish you would have listed the variables you feel are helpful and an explination as to what they do. If a player hasn't adjusted his .cfg yet I don't think he would even understand what you were talking about. If a player has adjusted his .cfg he is probobly has seen Casey's config years ago...

I'm allways suprised that there is never a mention of cl_crosshairscale. To me, this is the most critical variable for improving your aim. The constant ommission of this important command leads me to beleive the majority of CAL players use custom crosshairs.

Edit: I stand corrected. Doorway, were you still using the stock config?!?!

Yup. I have to agree. That is quite possibly the most important tweak when combined with cl_crosshairalpha to things ingame. The rest are not as important anymore with Z-Block leveling the playing field by controlling your rates to match the server. I only have 3 lines in my autoexec and it works just fine.

The reason use net_graph 3 is because it shows tick rate. I like to know what tick rate my computer is running at on the server. Don't think that if the server is 100tick its always 100tick. I usually have to restart my computer for me to get 100tick. (The higher the tick the better your shots will register.

I don't really know why its not in there. I also didn't make it or anything so on mine, i added a couple of commands and changed a few things.

                Thanks for your input BTW.

Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention Itachi.

I know you didn't make this config, sorry if my previous post came off harsh.

I only used the stock config until recently. Now I have one line in my autoexec.cfg, and you can probably guess what that is.
