  • Starting Cash

For some reason, after the update, it is possible to start the game sometimes with 4600 instead of 2300. I'm not sure what makes it happen, but it may be from joining right after the round starts instead of before.

This definitely gives a big advantage to some, as it'll be pistols against augs. Is this a bug or a setting?

    3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

I am usually one of the first to connect on map change. I notice that when I join I always have $4600 but then when someone else joins the other team the round is restarted and I have $2300 to start, but other people can buy long rifles.

It should be set back to default of $800 anyways. IMO anyways.

I wouldn't be suprised if it was Xaphan doing this somehow, this never happens on my server or other servers I play on occasionally so there has to be some underlying reason for it.

I'm a fan of $800 to start also, at least you are guaranteed of starting with even force on both teams.

IIRC, we upped the starting fundage because Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists armed only with pistols just wasn't very realistic...

Yeah I grew to like the ~$2300 start price because you have to make a tough decision: kevlar, helmet and deagle OR kevlar and mp5 OR shottie. You have to specialize a bit and think about what you and your team are going to need equipment-wise.

Yeah but the Ts can afford a rifle with this much money, and not a weak one at that...

I don't see how "Realism" even factors into it but at least with the first round starting with pistols both teams have a relatively fair shot at winning the first round which can be crucial for a reasonably balanced game, especially on maps that favour one team or the other. Until there is some kind of auto team balancing it just starts a round on an even kilter.

                          ANYWAY...

This discussion is about the disparity of some players starting with $4600 and some with $2300. We can start another thread about whether or not $2300 is appropriate.

I don't see how its anything but a server issue of some kind, something Wyzcrak can look into if he gets a minute (along with putting de_inferno on the server *hint hint* :) )? Haven't seen it happen anywhere else...
