  • To knife or not to knife

Ever since I began playing on the Counter-Strike server, I have been told and understood that knifing was to be used as a last resort, out of bullets mainly. Today I had a run in with a player that seem insistant on knifing me since I made mention of it be used only as a last resort after the first time it happened. Then when I asked him to stop knowing that he had ammo and then again at the beginning of the round he still wanted to use the knife. Am I wrong in insisting that he stop knifing? When I play on the gungame server I expect it but not on the Counter-Strike sever. For it to happen once and I say something is one thing but then for it to happen again and again that is something different. Again am I wrong for complaining? If I am then I will stop but somebody needs to tell me so.

I think i recall one of these. Was one of them when you got stuck on a chair? If so on that occasion i did see the player in question deplete his glock before attacking with his knife. I didn't see the other ones but i do agree with you on the no ammo point. The knife kill i saw was a one in a million chance, but to have it done more than once on the same map and in lock-down no-less is kinda absurd.

There's nothing wrong with killing someone with a knife every once in a while. Sometimes you're out of bullets, or you pull it out on accident and just go with it. But if a person targets someone and goes after him constantly, he ruins the fun, isn't playing TG and just shows he has a bad attitude.

No Nomad, Laredo is correct, I considered that a legit knifing, the ones that I am talking of is after yall left and it was a different player and he knows whom he is. I really dont want to mention any names before I get a clarification on the issue. I maybe venting somewhat but like Potshot says, it ruins the fun of the game if you are contiually knifing someone. Like I said I expect it in gungame but not on TG server unless in certian situations such as Potshot and myself have mention and that is what has been told to me ever since I started playing on the TG sever.

rang you're fine with asking people to stop trying to knife all the time which is clearly what this sounds like. If someone is going out of their way to knife people then yeah ask then report them. They can come talk to admins on the forums.

I wanted to clarify that if you're going to report someone don't waste your time by not getting the proper information for reporting a player on the server.

The proper way is outlined in the SOP's here

I am wrong to believe that knifing is a viable tactic for TG? i'm not saying it should be abused by any means but i do believe that you could use it to actually save bullets if you are running low. and/or taking out a dude without making altering the other "Guards"

Rang you were right in asking the player, in your case, to stop. the knife is not a primary weapon, but i do believe that it can be used tacticly in certain situations.

Yes Waffles I agree with you and have been knifed before when it was a way to be silent. But the times that I am talking about is when your attacker is advancing on you with knife in hand at the beginning of the round and they dont even try to use a pistol or rifle.

I am all for silent kills, but the problem with this is (even though I haven't played for literally over a year) is that if I recall correctly, the knife makes noise, and takes two good back-stabs to kill someone. Whenever I was in a situation that called for a silent kill that wouldn't alert anyone, I usually just busted out the USP, silenced it, and double-tapped the target in the back of the dome.

what if you don't have a silenced weapon? and the knife wil kill if its tot he back! so if you can dome to back of the head then you can get the 1 click knife kill. i'm not pushing the subject i was just stating

well like he said you either have to walk around with a knife the whole time, which is not tactical or you have to pull it out when you get in that position and that makes a lot of noise which ruins your stealth. Besdies that an unsilenced shot to the head is more powerful than a silenced one. Silenced or not doesn't really matter at that point. You have 2 options, risk a knife kill for no real positive reason or have a sure shot from a sidearm. It's been proven that the sidearm is the safe method. Ofcourse i'm sure you could debate this for months as we have done many times in the past.

Remember that, while the knife makes noise when you pull it out, it makes far less noise than firing an unsilenced weapon.

i'm seeing that yes knifing is allowed but c'mon guys be smart! take the extra 2 secs to line up a perfect head show and the guy goes down without know what happened. lets face it its better to make someone go "WHAT WAS THAT!" than to be shanked. even then no one knows where you were :D
