  • Whats your favorite tactic?

I just thought that I would make this thread to see what everyones favorite tactic is. It doesnt have to be your own, just one that you like the best. And also to see of there are any out that that have not been mentioned yet. Please mention the player count.

I have two favorites. One of them is for cs_italy for the CTs. Another one is for any bomb map. Both are examples of 7v7

    1. Italy- Ok, I didnt make this one up, and am not sure where I got it from. Everyone buys frag grenades. All the CTs go to long hall. One CT throws a smoke all way up the hall, to blind the window. Wait for the smoke to build up. Everyone pull their frag grenades out. Then 1 by 1 everyone makes their ways up the long hall. The guy in front chucks his grenade then steps out of the way. The next guy does the same thing, then the next guy, then the next guy, etc.... All this should be done before the smoke is vanished. Then people chuck a couple flashes inside the house and rush in. Now your at least by the hospages.

2.Any bomb map- I am going to use de_contra for example. 5 people get with the bomber and stay at spawn. The other 2 guys make their way to B. They throw a couple of flashes and smokes and dont shoot your guns to much, just a couple of bursts. When someone just holds the trigger its usally a dead giveaway that its a distraction. By this time the reast of the team should be at the top of A. The 2 distractors make their way up the middle to A and fight off the CTs. Plant. claim Victory.

i like italy where a guy down below throws a smoke up on the bridge from the appartment to the t base for cover. there is alot of good use for smokes in that level. you can also send one off to the left when you are coming up the middle and before the stairs so to corner the guys up above guarding the appartment. that works every time with Root on ct.

hmmm, well I am not sure about this one, but i like to sit back and wait for the enemy to come to me. I learned this from root one night like a month ago. We were getting creamed and root told us to fall back and wait for them to come to us. It really worked! Well it works, if you have enough people doing it, and they are tactically placed. Of course this only works on defense :)
That nade thing will get you far.

And as defense, thats actually what you are supposed to do......

One that someone showed me that allowed us to win five rounds in a row or so was to have all the team (defending on defusal map) to go to one bombsite. That way, if they planted at the other site, we'd be able to ambush them as a team. If they came to our bombsite... well... :D

Italy- CTs are losing so they just do a hard rush strait up the middle, it has worked everytime for me so far. Plain and simple.

Haha I do that all the time.

I like the 5-2 split on specific maps like Cbble.

Skidmark you refer to the |Automaton| long hall rush (r) (tm) (c). When executed correctly on italy, the CT's will be exfiltrating with the hostages before the T's know what's hit them.

One of my favourite tactics on de_toxin is going to be for T's to advance 4 units by leapfrog down the long hall, clear the corners at the far end, flashbang both doors, smoke and frags, advance team goes out and secures the site, whilst bomber and escorts haul ass behind us and plant. I say its going to be - I haven't been on a team that's quite pulled it off yet, although Ben was on my team one time, and our whole team certainly had it sorted as far as getting down the long hall.

I think it was you who actually showed me that one, and you are right as long as it is executed correctly the Ts have no idea what hit them.

                  Re: Whats your favorite tactic?

My favorite tactic is the ones that work :D.

Rushing seems to be the favorite of server #1 though as that's all I hear ("ummmm RUSH B HARD"). Although I am use to it, I deplore rushing as it can be bundled by one person stopping or if the people you rush get good shots on your first couple of guys.

Personally I always like to take it slow and make my team pick them off to weaken their defense. THEN rush where ever they seem weakest or just walk in slowly into the bombsite or hostage area (depends on the situation and map).

Actually stealth is one of my biggest dislikes only just slightly better than rushing. Obviosly this game was not made for sleath. Not to say that you can't be since your silent if you walk, but not being able to peak around corners RUINS IT. This is because when you reach a corner you either have to rush around it to get a good shot (thus giving off your position) or slowly go around the corner which makes you a sitting duck (dieing and giving off your position). Now not to say that killing him in the first place doesn't give them a clue where you are but it is better than a huge firefight.

Actually the one thing I deplore most is when one man after another goes into a room and is killed (I consider this the lemmings tactic from Hell). To clarify: I mean one man goes in and is killed. Another goes in and is killed. Etc. It makes me wonder how we became the dominant species on the planet. I just saw this in militia where one Terrorist in the kitchen took out four or five cts coming in one at a time. Luckily the last ct got a lucky hs on him (and I do mean LUCKY). It's called go in as a team O_O OMG WTF THAT'S BRILLIANT.

Now not to say that when there is one left and you have six guys you have to be super paranoid. While it would be better obviously to be together in a group, people naturally seperate especially in tight quarters (which is good if communication is clear). I mean going into a room alone is fine and dandy but when your losing man after man get together people.

This next paragraph my get me some flak but here me out:
Now if your running on pure momentum (like you just killed guy after guy) and then rush into a room to secure an objective, that actually might catch them off guard and plus "your in the zone." You know what I mean people, sometimes people are just very hard to kill when they are on a roll (the only time I would find this acceptable though is when you are alone or have many teammates, plus only if you think this will help complete the objective in the end, like securing the garage in Militia). Now I know this looks like being a frag monkey but think about it. If you take out a defense quickly the rest of the enemy will not be in position very well and well be rapidly reorganizing or in the best case scenario not realize the opening. Organizing a team strike might give them a chance to organize a sound defense where as the guy "in the zone" (I love this expression) might be able to get in unnoticed and be placed at least in a good position. Of coarse he should tell others what is happening and where he is. Then they can formulate a plan which now has a trump card with it. This is all based on the situation so whether this is sound or not is accorded to the player in mind. Think of this as a minature rush with the objective in mind (keep in mind I did not say for the guy to intentionally make contact with the enemy only to get to a good spot in the confusion, or if possible secure the area if you are able to safely).

                    Re: Whats your favorite tactic?

My favorite tactic that's been catching on quite a bit is on cs_italy.

It's something that I came up with a month or so ago that has literally had a 99% success rate when executed properly.

                    As a CT...

If we have seven guys on a team, I send four in the wine cellar and three in the apartments. If there's eight, we obviously divide it into four. If there's ever an odd amount (like seven), the wine cellar gets the extra man. Now the guys going wine cellar will of course check the roof in their route to the wine cellar. If a target is located on roof, obviously we engage and try and get that target down. In any case, that squad will get in position wine cellar. I usually say just go half way into the cellar to avoid giving the position away. It is key, and I can't stress this enough, it is key that you do not give away your positions in this tactic. Whether that means peeking out of the wine cellar or peeking out of the apartments. It's especially key for the wine cellar team to only go half way - because it's easier to spot them in their exit from above or what have you.

Again, we'll assume we have a team of seven. One squad of four goes wine cellar, checks roof and assumes their position mid-way through wine cellar. One squad of three is en route to apartments. Again, the key is patience and being quiet. You can't peek out of the apartments or the wine cellar or you jeopordize the whole plan and your positions.

The apartment squad rushes out first at whatever given time I say. The wine cellar will rush out no more than six seconds after apartment rushes out. The wine cellar is our flank. When we push up that apartment hall, it draws a lot of attention from the T's. It's funny if you die and spectate this happening. Someone else even pointed this out tonight. It's such a perfect flank. We rush up apartment hall, T's start gravitating towards that position or keep their attention in that general direction, and BOOM - wine cellar squad comes out as our flank and does their job. It works perfect if executed properly. I've had this tactic fail once in the numerous times we've executed it, and that was only because our whole team was working with USP's and Deagles. I've also had the hostages rescued not once, not twice, but three times in the last two nights executing this plan, including once tonight. What happens is it hits the T's so quick, a lot of them are out of position, some maybe sitting in long hall not knowing what's going on. By then the CT's are in the house getting the hostages.

To sum it up, it gives the apartment team enough time to reach the end of the hall. And by this time, the wine cellar team blindsides the T's.

It's definetely a lot of fun executing this tactic. It's especially fun watching it all unfold as a spectator.

That tactic sounds very much like one that I like to use on de_prodigy. If there is a team of seven, three go to guardhouse and three go to long hall. The last one goes into the vent. The best part about the vent is that you can get to both bombsites rather quickly. But the best part about this is as long as the vent cover stays there, you can see all the Ts run down long hall, and you can even hear them running before they even get to Long Hall. When they have all passed, drop down with your silenced M4 and flank them without them even knowing where it comes from.

Well I don't know about there being a resemblence. As a CT on de_prodigy, you're on the defensive. Completely different circumstances. And about being in the vent to flank - I've tried that so many times, I've even jumped down and flashed the whole team and still managed to get no more than one, maybe two T's in the process. It always fails for me. :-/

I've noticed a lot of times one T will actually stay back and guard that vent the whole time - right up until the bomb is planted and maybe a second or two more.

                              Whats your favorite tactic?

I like to do this on pirisani, but works on alot of defuse maps cause it's simple.

T's split in to two groups, 5 in main group (includes bomber), 2 in secondary group. Each group heads to different bombsites. Main group with the bomber throws down a smoke and a few flashes, without revealing themselves. This makes it look like a distraction and after a couple of seconds, and the CT's begin focus on the other bombsite. After ~15 seconds the secondary group makes some noise and reveals themselves at the other bombsite and try to kill any CT's. A few seconds later, the main group makes their move and heads to the bombsite to plant, typically with little resistance. When the bomb is planted and if the secondary group survived, they head back to regroup with the main group and kill any confused CT's on the way.

As for CT's on pirisani, I like the team to cover the roof, middle, and double doors. Keeps the T's from distracting or confusing the CT's.
