FPSGURU interview with TWI Alan Wilson, Vice President
Re: FPSGURU interview with TWI Alan Wilson, Vice President
Wow..the game modes sound immensely entertaining..!
I love new takes on "old" styles..!
Here is from teh interview..
" FPSGuru: Can you give us some hints to what kind of modes we can expect in the multiplayer battles?
Alan Wilson: Sure... 4 core game modes:
1. The "classic" RO mode is "Territory", which is about various forms of objective capture/defense.
2. We added "Firefight", which is really our take on team DM. All the RO2 game mechanics, but with the simplest of missions - kill all the enemy you can find. We actually wondered how that would feel in RO - and it turns out to be a lot of fun. Less concern about tactical objectives, more yelling of "where did that come from? Where the $#%^ are they?".
3. The final one is "Countdown". We wanted to do some variant on the single-life game type, but without the frustration of sitting around cursing everyone if you catch grenade spam in the first 10 seconds. Especially when someone has gone AFK... We also wanted to make use of all the space on our maps. In our version, attackers and defenders spawn; go after an objective, with a countdown clock running (something like 2-3 minutes max). If you die, you're out. If the objective is taken, everyone respawns and goes after the next objective. If the attackers are running out of men too fast, the attacking commander has 2 "reinforcement" respawns available and can force a second wave of attackers. And if they still fail, the defenders win. Then the sides swap over and the original defenders see if they can get further... can get very tense!
4. And then there is the multi-player campaign - an evening spent battling back and forth over the city of Stalingrad, across multiple maps and game types. Epic stuff!"
After reading this, now I am getting even more excited...!
