OK.. I've been to places in the internet I didn't want to know about searching for a way to get access to the beta without pre-ordering the game.

    Is it possible!?

I can't afford the game right now and even if I did I'm not sure I would buy it since I don't know if I will like the Realism part of it or if I have the time to play it all at.

As far as I am aware, you must commit to the Digital Deluxe edition before they'll let you go for a roll in the hay with the beta.

      Abel,

TWI likes to do Free-Weekends on STEAM, usually around new patches or releases. I'm sure in the weeks following the game release there will be a free weekend to satisfy people like you.

If not, a demo, hopefully, after release.

            Abel,

I am definitely not a sim type player and I LOVE this game so far. You can play it low and slow if you like, or you can rush from cover to cover with your squad using bounding overwatch.. both with great success.

I am one of those inbetweeners (word???). *sigh* I bought the game, but didn't want to fork over the extra cash to play the beta early. I am a patient man....but when I hit the battlefield you workers and peasants are going to be running!!!!!

Regarding your original question; you have to pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition to be in the beta.

As a counter to Mindkill's comment, I'd caution against pre-ordering based on others' experiences. I usually like a mix between fast-paced and simulation gameplay (somewhere between 2142 and PR would be my ideal game), and so far I'm finding RO2 hard going. It's good fun, but like a complicated book or a tricky puzzle game, it can be frustrating when it doesn't 'click'.

I'd advise you to wait for a demo or a free weekend - as Skud said, TripWire do a lot of free weekends for Killing Floor, which is how I decided that it was my sort of game.
