Re: World of Warplanes by wargaming.net

Its going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Aviation is a lot different than the armor battles. Like tanks, there was different 'classes' of aircraft, however unlike tanks they fought other types of vehicles just as often as fighting other aircraft. So, assuming its the same game play as WoT, a lot of the aircraft will be limited. The bombers will not be usable, attack aircraft would be seriously hurt, and even a large number of fighters will not have the same effect as they should. Again, that's assuming the game play is the same as it is in WoT. It is entirely possible that they change it, to show the support role that aircraft played.

Also, with the added dimension will make it so that joystick support is a must.

I got dibs on the F-86 Sabre !

No really, I notice it says ...."Aviation is the big draw, of course, and Wargaming.net indicates that the title will feature aircraft and scenarios dating from the 1930s through the 1950s (a watershed period in aviation history that saw rapid technological advances spurred on by World War II and the Korean conflict)."

I wonder if that means the Vietnam era fighters. Most of them were developed in the 50's. My guess is they'll stop with planes that served in Korea, but if they don't.....I got dibs on the whole Century series of fighters too ! ;)

Sounds awesome, tanks also fought other targets as well, infantry for example and that has not proved a problem for them. Only makes the game more interesting by providing us weak machinegun spots to shoot at.

They could do some really interesting stuff with some of the crazy prototypes people have made for planes.

Except that's essentially a sim. I predict this game to be extremely silly and it'd be nice if they actually finished their first game before starting a second one. We'll see though I guess.

Oh man, can you imagine if they combined the two games into one, the battles that would rage both on the ground and in the air at the same time. Give me a mobile anti-aircraft gun and let the fight begin.

                          +1 !

There's some CTF and some team-dogfight servers that offer some very fun/lightweight action. Its a sim, but it has a fun factor to it.
