    Gaming Focus: Crimecraft

    MMO Gaming Focus: Crimecraft
Greetings everyone, my name is Damion Rayne. I'm new to the TG community but have fallen in love with it. So I decided to start out running and do some reviews and articles on an area of the gaming world that I enjoy the most, MMO Gaming. So this article is the first in the line of what I hope becomes a series of articles later down the road.

This first article is a focus on a Free To Play game called "Crimecraft" which is a team based 3rd person shooter. So, lets get started and jump right in shall we?

    What is Crimecraft?

Simply put by its' development team, "Crimecraft is a P.W.N.S" or otherwise known as a persistent world next-generation shooter. What does this mean to us? Well simply put this means that Crimecraft is a 3rd person action shooter with added bells and whistles that one would expect from a massive multi-player online game. Including skills, leveling, crafting and many other aspects which we will be going over later on in this article....

  • Breach Day-One Review

    Breach Day-One Review

So you like destroying things? Making loud booms with high explosives? Shooting a wide variety of weapons?
DO WE HAVE A GAME FOR YOU!

Breach is the newest title from Atomic Games and was originally designed as a training simulator for the US government and then released as a title for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Of course, the first thing that comes to everyone's mind is that this is just another console port, but you couldnt be more wrong. Breach is a full fledged first person shooter that combines the best elements of contemporary titles such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor and pushes beyond.

    The Basics:
Breach isnt your typical FPS by any stretch of the imagination. Yes, you have guns, a knife and various incendiary devices, but the depth that Atomic has gone to is really stunning. Breach works on a level based system for unlocks, and XP is needed to level yourself up as you play. But unlike the FPS titles we have today, XP isnt awarded solely for killing or accomplishing objectives, it's also awarded for simply playing the game actively.

  • World of Tanks Preview

    World of Tanks Preview

For those of you who’ve not been initiated, World of Tanks is an upcoming free to play (F2P) MMO currently in beta. Game play centers around armored fighting vehicles ranging from the WWI era on past WWII. You’ll fight your way across a multitude of battlefields blasting enemy tanks, dodging fire from ambushing tank destroyers, always fearful of the ever present rain of death from artillery. Game play is quick and lethal, but with good tactics and a couple of platoon mates, no one will stand in your way.

You’ll initially log into the game to find yourself in the hangar, as the proud owner of one of three starter tanks; the Russian MS-1, the German Leichttraktor, or the American T1 Cunningham. There are many options on the screen but as you currently have no money, and no experience, the only really option is to pick a tank and hit the big red “Battle” button. After a short loading time while the server looks for a round that matches your level and you’ll be deposited into a map surrounded by your team mates. You’ve got your standard stuff - a mini map, team list to either side, a diagram of your tank, and cross hairs. Controls are very easy, using “wasd” to move; forward and back, left and right. Targeting is handled by the mouse. You will quickly notice two different cross-hairs, one shows where you are pointing, and the other where the gun is pointing as it tries to track your movements. You’ve got two types of ammo you can use, AP for general all around fun, and HE rounds which are used for higher module damage. Your targeting reticule also has a lot of useful information showing your health and current reload time via bars on the right and left. There is also a green circle that shows your cone of fire that will increase or decrease based on your current speed and movements....

Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam Review

In the mood for a grittier, more fiery Battlefield game? Try the latest Battlefield add-on: BFBC2 Vietnam !

For those of you new to the series, Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam is the latest installment of the hugely successful Battlefield (BF) franchise developed by DICE. All Battlefield games are first person shooters with an emphasis on online, team-based multiplayer battles involving infantry and vehicles.

Players get to choose to play one of several classes (e.g. assault, recon, engineer) and get to customize the kit (which rifle to carry, what attachment to bring). More recent BF games feature weapon unlocks and persistent player statistics.

Built in VOIP facilitates communication between team players, making Battlefield a game that requires cooperation for success. Squad play (where each team is broken into squads) is a recurring theme in all BF games. Some BF titles feature commanders, which would talk to their squad leaders, which would in turn relay orders to their squad. Tactical Gamer encourages the use of a microphone for all Battlefield titles. Note that VOIP for BFBC2 (including Vietnam) is broken for the PC – Tactical Gamer uses Teamspeak to allow communication....

    Tactical Gamer Staff Promotions

As we prepare to enter the new year, we are making some changes here at Tactical Gamer. As we have grown our community has changed in a lot of different ways. Tactical Gamer has become a gaming resource not just for our own community members but gamers outside out community as well. In an effort to foster this growth and to expand Tactical Gamer, we are bringing on some new staff members. Oniell121 is coming on board as a Community/Site Administrator. Oniell will be taking Asch’s old position now that Asch’s real-world responsibilities (which I can certainly understand, having gone through the wonders of having children myself) overtake the work he has been doing for Tactical Gamer. Oniell and I are working on some exciting new plans for Tactical Gamer that will be announced soon. Warlab is stepping up to the newly created position of Content Development Manager (CDM). This new position acts as the head of our existing and new Content Development teams that we will be putting together. Warlab will have positions under him to manage the development of new content, relationships with publishers, developers, and hardware manufacturers. We are aiming to re-kindle the development of our own original content in the gaming, hardware and technology spaces. Please join me in welcoming both Oniell121 and Warlab to their new positions! ...

    Free Speech and Video Games

Video games are more than just a product of the entertainment industry. They are artistic, political, and religious expressions. For anyone remotely familiar with the medium, this claim is obvious and needs no defense. Whether it is BioShock, the Sims, Farmville, or Castle Wolfenstein, all video games function not merely as an art form, but they are also vehicles for expression. Fans, artists, and scholars alike have used the medium of video games to create commentaries on many aspect of contemporary life.

  • EA/DICE Present: Medal of Honor

    EA/DICE Present: Medal of Honor

Operating directly under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors are called on when the mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators.

Over 2 million Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines wear the uniform. Of those, approximately 50 thousand fall under the direct control of the Special Operations Command. The Tier 1 Operator functions on a plane of existence above and beyond even the most highly trained Special Operations Forces. Their exact numbers, while classified, hover in the low hundreds. They are living, breathing, precision instruments of war. They are experts in the application of violence.

The new Medal of Honor is inspired by and has been developed with Tier 1 Operators from this elite community. Players will step into the boots of these warriors and apply their unique skill sets to a new enemy in the most unforgiving and hostile battlefield conditions of present day Afghanistan.

There is a new enemy. There is a new war. There is a new warrior. He is Tier 1.
