  • Eve Online Incarnated

    Eve Online Incarnated

The Second definition of Immersion is stated simply as, "Deep mental involvement." But what does this mean to us as gamers? To me it means that developers have to push the envelope in ever increasing ways to "Immerse" us in their games. To bring their worlds to life, make us care about them and make us feel like we are truly involved in something grand. In no other game has this principle been re-defined and shown in spades, then in Eve Online. That's what we're here today to talk about, one of the largest expansions to the world's leading space MMO and largest online universe. Lets get started shall we?...

  • Tactical Gamer Presents - PR ArmA 2 Full Feature roundup to date.

Tactical Gamer Presents - PR ArmA 2 Full Feature roundup to date.

The award-winning Project Reality Studios team are proud to announce that the official first release of v0.1 of the Project Reality ArmA2 Mini-Mod will be coming very soon. Although we are now moving into the Beta Testing stage, we think the time is right to inform the community of what will be coming to you very shortly. Project Reality will enter the ArmA2 battlefield for the first time!

As with Project Reality's original conception on the Refractor 2 engine, at this stage PR:ArmA2 should be classed as a Mini-Mod; we have to start somewhere! Don't be fooled though, this release will by no means disappoint, due to the large number of high quality art assets already created by the Project Reality Team, and the considerable experience of the PR:ArmA2 Development Team on the Real Virtuality 3 engine!

PR:ArmA2 will exist as a standalone modification. It will remain self contained, self developing and not rely on or use externally held add ons from other sources where at all possible. What that means to the player is that it will be a 'one stop shop' as an installation package, with no requirement for additional multiple add on packs.

    Planetside 2

If you missed it, SOE has been having their annual fan-fest, and with it have finally dropped the first details about the highly anticipated Planetside 2. If you're not familiar with it Planetside, was the first MMOFPS launched in 2003. Allowing truly "massive" game-play with all manor of tanks, aircraft and infantry combat, you the player took on the roll of a foot soldier in one of three empires; The Terran Republic, The New Conglomerate, or the Vanu Sovereignty. With features like squads, platoons, inventory systems, and outfits (clans), Planetside managed to combine the FPS and MMO genres in a seamless way. The biggest draw of course were those massive battles, with hundreds on players on each side able to actively participate on one continent (map). Now CEO John Smedley and SOE plan to out do themselves with the second installment in the series....

  • Review: World of Tanks

    Review: World of Tanks

Ever dreamed of driving a 50 ton hunk of metal and slinging explosive rounds at your enemies? Ever had the desire to watch other gamers cringe as you charge at them, knocking down trees and any other obstacles in your path?Do you love vehicle warfare? Then World of Tanks is for YOU!

World of Tanks is an immersive multiplayer tank simulator made by WarGaming that takes a stab at an often overlooked aspect of World War II: the tank battles. All of the tanks and maps in the game are era-specific to the 1940s and early 1950s. Currently there are tanks from three of the major players in the conflict: Germany, Russia and the United States. Plans to add in tanks from both France and Japan have been slated for future patches. Put simply: the game has everything you’d want out of a free-to-play title. More than 15 maps, over 50 different tanks, and the ability to play in either first or third person modes give the game an incredible diversity.

That diversity is also constantly increasing. World of Tanks has an incredibly dedicated development team who, with the latest patch to version 0.6.4, have made lots of changes to game mechanics, balance, and new maps have been added, as well as introducing Clan Wars. Plans are in the works for 30+ new tanks in the existing three nation’s tech trees over the next few months as well!
