My experience has been less than splendid, but I've often thought during my trials that things would have run more smoothly if I hadn't gone all in x64. At the moment, though, the machine is humming (having just recently disabled the mirror RAID completely).

I will give you that RAID was a issue for me (RAID 0), but with the new SATA speeds I no longer need it. With the new backup features I have also disabled a redundent RAID 5, so all said and done I no longer use it.

I guess it's fairly common that I upgrade OSes when I upgrade boxes (a rarity for me), so I don't know to blame Vista or my hardware for the largely satisfactory speed I get out of this newest box. I don't have a terribly fast processor, but I have four cores, so the consistency with which the box performs is fantastic.

Having the fastest PC doesn't do that much for me. But, these days, knowing with some accuracy how long it's going to take me to sit down and get some work done (regardless of what that work is) is quite nice.

Vista Ultimate 64/XP dual boot on my new built system, and I'm about to build another which won't even bother with the XP dual boot. So far Vista has been great.

I too am an alcoholic.... Oh, wrong place?!?! I have Vista Ultimate x64 and love it. More than XP and the gaming is fine so far. Any problems I have had with Vista is completely cause I have done something to cause the problem. I have had to do a format and fresh install once so far cause I like monkeying around to see how things work and to get better performance.

No, I too have Vista Ultimate 32bit. It's not really all that different from XP, so I don't know why more people switch over, provided they have the hardware.

I have Vista Business 32bit, but I get massive performance drops in games, up to 50% in TF2 vs. XP. Won't be using it until it's fixed, and is unacceptable regardless of what hardware I have. (2.4GHz single core Athlon 64, nVidia 7900; have it on a 2nd drive, boot it up occasionally to try new updates)

Im running Vista 32bit Ultimate and XP Pro. I'll switch to 64 when I rebuild my rig. I use XP for gaming and Vista for everything else. Does anyone use Windows Dream Scenes for there background? I DO.

i have vista running on 2 machines, the primary being a 64bit one month old amd 6400x2 3.2ghz with 8gb of ram, 640gb raid array, 8800gts g92 512mb all plugged into an ASUS Crosshair mobo... i love it, i have a random quirk here and there, but i have just as many with an XP machine too... my laptop has a bad GPU and i dont feel like dropping 400 on a new gfx card, i BELEIVE all my problems revolve around the gpu, ill update if/when i get my new gfx card in it (inspiron 9300 with a 6800 and 2gb ram.. might upgrade to the 7800gtx with a bios flash and diff power brick (its possible.. ive looked into it extensivly))
