    windows update crap...

seriously, i just installed windows xp service pack 2 and now my hard drive space takes up from 15.7 to 17.2....seriously, what the sam hill is their problem?! do they really want to use up all my hard drive space(s) with stupid space consuming updates?!?!?!

PS: my question is: is there any way to fix that...like removing unwanted old updates or things like that?

Google owns you so bad it hurts:
    Here.
    Uninstall info.
    Temp file clean-up.

PS: no software is perfect. This is especially true of an OS that includes support for thousands of different applications, drivers, and plug-ins. Yes, MS might do as well as Linux if they released their code for the entire world to evaluate. But that leaves them open to people who would not report bugs and make exploits using reverse engineered patches and loss of business from people stealing their code (Kind of like what Linus did with Unix).

its because the SP2 update has backed up your setup before you put SP2 on...thats over 400mb extra.

system restore as probably also done extra restore points for you

and as fenix said, the temp files are probably all there too.....
